Chapter 389 386- War At The Southern Border (4)

Standing at a certain area on the wall as well as flying in the sky were those from the battle arena. Everyone had instinctively formed a group as they rushed here to see what was going on.

On the way, these thousands of Borderners and Mainlanders faced the attacks of Rank 3 flying beasts. This can be said to be the first time Borderners and Mainlanders have worked together on this scale to fight against a beast wave.

As the group overlook the battle raging on in the waters down below, most of the Mainlanders\' faces went deathly pale.

Compare to the dangers they faced and the scenes of battles they see coming here, this one was more gruesome and horrifying in nature.

A familiar chubby disciple couldn\'t help it anymore as he saw the mangled head of a human floating in the water. He ended up vomiting over the wall.

This seemed to trigger a few people as their faces turned green, however, they had somehow managed to resist vomiting.

It was normal for these disciples who have never witnessed death, then suddenly come face to face with such gruesome sights to have such a large knee-jerk reaction.

The Borderners on the other hand all held serious expressions as they flew or leaped over the wall to find their battalion and join the war.

Somewhere on the wall, a familiar-looking Celestial Academy disciple had the weapon he used to fight the flying beasts while coming here tremble uncontrollably.

Next to him, a voice could be heard saying.

"What\'s this? Are you scared, kid? I thought you said you wouldn\'t hesitate to trade places with us. What, are you going to take back your words now that you saw this?"

The disciple turned to this Borderner and recognized him immediately.

The words he said echoed in his heart and they seemed to have an effect on him. The disciple gritted his teeth and he clenched his weapon tightly to stop his shaking hand. Then his chest started to heave up and down while his eyes became bloodshot.

"I SAID NOT TO LOOK DOWN ON US MAINLANDERS AND I MEANT IT!!!"

The disciple raised his head and roared at the top of his lungs. Then with a savage expression, he began madly running towards the edge of the wall as if he was a valiant hero who was prepared to die in battle.

The Borderner who had said those words to him looked on dumbfounded at his actions. But he quickly snapped out of it and hurriedly yelled.

"Hey! Stop that kid!!"

"No you don\'t!"

Just as one foot of that disciple made it over the wall, someone reacted quickly and pulled him back by his waist belt.

The disciple landed hard on the ground and he rubbed the back of his head as he got up.

"W-What-Why are you stopping me?"

The Borderner walked up to him.

"What were you planning to do with your cultivation at early Foundation Realm? You might as well be sending yourself to become food for the Sea Beasts."

"I don\'t understand, why does my cultivation matter when some of you Borderners are in the same realm as me? Isn\'t it the same for you?"

The Borderner shook his head.

"We Borderners might give you Mainlanders shit about being garden flowers, but if we were to choose to have garden flowers than having none then we\'ll accept the garden flowers."

"What does that mean?"

"It means you lot are just as important to our survival as we are to yours. Without anyone on the Mainland, who are we supposed to go to for the newest weapons? The newest cultivation methods? Or the newest alchemy pills you guys create? If we just let you Mainlanders fight then if you end up dying who are we supposed to protect?"

The disciple stood there silent not knowing what to say. More than a few Mainlanders heard these words as well, and an inexplicable feeling began to raise in their hearts.

"So, what am I supposed to do?"

The disciple asked confused. If they weren\'t expected to fight, what were they supposed to do in this situation?

"You aren\'t expected to do anything, just let us protect you."

A voice said all of a sudden.

Everyone turned to see Shi Chun along with several disciples floating behind him. A few of those disciples looked injured as if they were in battle.

"All Borderners who are a part of a battalion go and located them to join the war. Those who have yet to join a battalion returned to the city and help the City Guards exterminate the beasts that had breached the wall."

"Yes, General!"

The shouts of all the Borderners on the wall and in the sky thundered out before they hurriedly left.

Even though Shi Chun didn\'t reveal his identity, the images of the various Generals, lieutenants, and Captains of all the Battalions were known by most of the Borderners for situations like these. If not that, then the winged tiger emblem on Shi Chun\'s robes could make one speculate he was at least a Captain of the Winged Tiger Battalion.

Within the crowd, there was Yang Su and the others along with Ji Mei and her group.

"Brother Jun, Niu\'er will miss you, so look for me when you return."

Ji Niu said in the same way as a wife that was sending her husband off to war would.

Lihua swept her gaze across Ji Niu causing her to stiffen, but she remain relatively calm. There was no way Lihua would attack her in this situation.

Well, as long as Ji Niu didn\'t push her luck too far.

"Wait, you aren\'t heading to the Star Bound Continent for the Chosen Tournament?"

Fei Yin asked surprised and his gaze met Cheng Li\'s.

Flipping open a new fan, Cheng Li responded.

"We aren\'t cut out for such events, so we aren\'t going."

"Which is fucked since I didn\'t even get to fight properly! Hey, white hair kid, you better not lose to anyone before our fight, you hear me? I don\'t want to fight damaged goods!"

\'What does that even mean?\'

Jun didn\'t bother ask this openly and only nodded his head with a forced smile.

With that, Ji Niu and the others flew into the air before leaving. Though Ji Mei and Yang Su met gaze and silently stared at each other for a brief moment.

It was not mentioned but the meaning of that moment was clear. Their match wasn\'t finished.

During this exchange between the two groups, Shi Chun was watching closely.

\'Is that him?\'

Shi Chun thought as he glanced at Jun.

"Master!"

"Third uncle!"

Wu Kai and Shi Lei called out drawing Shi Chun\'s attention.

Shi Chun smiled at Shi Lei, but he glared at Wu Kai.

"Wait until I come back and I\'ll deal with you."

"Wah-What did I do?"

Wu Kai wore a terrified expression and instead of flying towards Shi Chun he quickly backpaddled away from him.

"Damn it, I shouldn\'t have called out to him."

Wu Kai cursed to himself as he quickly flew away from this place.

Shi Chun watched him go and snorted.

As the Borderners scattered, Shi Chun lowered the disciples behind him while addressing everyone heading for the Star Bound Continent.

"Everyone here head for your carrier that will be leaving for the Star Bound Continent."

A commotion was caused because of his words.

"Are we still going to Star Bound Continent? What about the beast wave, it\'s directly blocking our route."

Shi Chun smile coolly and said.

"No need to fear, I\'ll be personally accompanying you on this trip so you\'ll have nothing to fear. Even if a Sea Lord attacks us I\'m confident in holding them off."

The disciples\' worries significantly decreased upon hearing that before they all began to head for the Mercenary Association\'s first carrier.

Soon, Yang Su and the others were standing in front of a gigantic flying ship that was at least ten times as large as the one they rode to reach the Southern Border.

Anyone who saw it would wonder how can such a big ship fly when it must have weighed several tens of thousands of tonnes. That, and how much fortune would it cost to power such a monstrosity? Even just powering this thing for an hour or so should be able to wipe out 2/10 of a Major Clan\'s wealth.

This just goes to show just how deep the Mercenary Association\'s pockets were.

"Celestial Academy disciples over here!"

Yang Su and the others heard this in the midst of the other groups calling for their own disciples.

After joining the Celestial Academy\'s group, Yang Su casually began looking around at the groups who would be riding on the first carrier.

These people were mostly from the Seven Major Clans, the Noble Families, and other Academies on the Maple Continent. He even saw disciples from the Demonic Cult which made him squint his eyes.

Due to the Chosen Tournament, both the Righteous Faction and Demonic Cult had called a cease-fire. But Yang Su wasn\'t the only one who these demonic disciples got that reaction out of, numerous hostile gazes were directed at them.

All in all, it could be said the people boarding this first carrier were the sons and daughters of the most influential powers on the Maple Continent and the future leaders of those powers.

It was quite amazing for such a gathering to occur like this.
