Chapter 144

The only way to describe it would be a maze, an indoor maze with transparent walls on the other side of the walls and ceiling one could clearly see various black sludge flowing around the area, it was a spatial maze the ‘walls’ and ‘ceiling’ were spatial barriers and although Sandro felt he could break through them if he tried he wasn’t going to do such a thankless act one was because the energy and effort required would be a great deal and the other was naturally because of what was on the other side of the barrier.

Gazing at the black sludge like material a sharp glint shone in Sandro’s pupils, he naturally recognized what the liquid was, it was black mud. Sandro was well versed with the properties and various mysterious use of the substance in fact the ways which deities suppressed and reduced the substance influence was provided by him as part of a deal and so he wasn’t that surprised by its presence here, In fact part of the reason Sandro had been after zero was naturally related to the black mud, although Sandro was adept with the various usage and characteristic of the substance he still had no control over it, the birth and creation of the sludge was a mystery to him as there existed no record of its creation in the planar laws, its emergence was obviously something foreign which the plane had been making persistent efforts to localize and control, the destruction of the astral plane and descent of the gods was naturally just a trial created for that purpose directed by joint efforts of the plane will, Sandro and the local deities of the plane.

Using his familiarity with the black mud Sandro found out where the rules of the operation of its movement and used that to quickly navigate the spatial maze and quickly head towards the center, Sandro brisk and swift footsteps were the only sound that reverberated in the environment and soon he was already close to his destination, his movement however stopped as he met a familiar individual sitting casually on the floor in front of the entrance to the center of the maze.

He had soft but firm masculine features, with short and silky black curly hair framing his face bringing out his beautiful pale eyes which were staring intently at the screen of what seemed to be a mobile device, the low tones of what was obviously the sound effects of a game being played resounded in Sandro’s ears.

“I didn’t expect to see you so soon.” Sandro said with a smile as he gazsed at the figure in front him. His name is or was Grant, the leader and creator of the psionic knights, arguably one of the most powerful ‘aboriginal’ in the plane today. But Sandro knew he was no native, as a well versed necromancer the moment he first set his eyes on ‘Grant’ it was glaringly obvious that there existed some incongruity with the well-known leader of psionic knights and after some steps Sandro found out he was right, the body was in fact a native but the soul had already been replaced by someone from outside the plane someone who could be said to be the real originator of the psionic knight’s occupation.

“Life’s full of surprises.” ‘Grant’ replied with a hint of teasing in his tone as he kept the mobile device he was previously fiddling with and leisurely stood up. It wasn’t the first time he had met Sandro, the last time they crossed paths was when the dark psionic was created and split from the psionic knights.

“I was hoping she would keep you for longer.” Sandro replied with pity evident in his tone

‘Grant’ was well aware he was referring to mara the leader of the dark psionic ‘Grant’s’ best friend, the reason why he had been preoccupied for quite some time was naturally her doing coupled with Sandro’s special help of course.

.....

“Our relationship is more complex than you think.”

Sandro smiled at this response, he wasn’t an overly curious person and so he had no idea of inquiring about the intricacies involved with the two leaders of psionic, he simply continued saying “Did you know, I was nearby when you first descended on this plane, you were just at the extraordinary stage separated from your teammates, with no domain or special props to keep your aura and energy from escaping, thrust directly into the astral realm, no way to head back due to the fact that you had just arrived and the conflicting law imprint hadn’t settled down yet I was pretty sure you were a goner, the only question was whether I would be able to access your corpse.”

Sandro lightly chuckled as he leisurely walked closer and continued his tirade “but you gave me a huge surprise, in a split second you managed to find a way out and your teammates quickly followed your example as they were not too far behind creating a chain reaction that caused such a drastic event. I must say, you have helped me tremendously but sadly you happen to be in possession of something you shouldn’t and I can’t take the risk of it still being out there regardless of whether you are going to be against me or not.”

As Sandro walked closer wisps of black smoke like energy seemed to escape from his body, its appearance made ‘Grant’ frown instinctively, he felt there was something particular annoying about its presence, numerous names of what it could be flashed through his mind until he finally settled on the answer and whispered it with a hint of puzzlement in his tone “Resentful souls?” He was puzzled because he had no idea why a bunch of resentful souls would elicit such a response from him.

Sandro heard his inquiries and lightly enlightened him giving a slight chuckle as he did so, his red eyes gleaming with amusement as he said “Hehe oh this, they are my collection from 30 years ago, you share a special bond with each of them, as one of the harbingers of star fall you happen hold a very special position in each of their hearts.”
