Chapter 166
Realizing that she was still holding Bai Qi’s hand, Zhang Li Xue quickly let it go before she looked away shyly. Because of that, Zhang Li Xue had missed the disappointed look on Bai Qi’s face.
Zhang Li Xue could feel the hand grow hot. They were no longer holding hands, but she could still feel his temperature.
Her hand tightened into a fist.
She reminded herself not to get distracted and raised her head to look at the stalls around them. Zhang Li Xue pointed to the stall that sold handcraft pottery and spoke, “Let’s just go over there first.”
Bai Qi trailed after Zhang Li Xue without complaining. The two of them looked at the pottery for a while just because there was no one around the stall.
After being surrounded by the crowd, all they wanted was a little air to breathe.
Zhang Li Xue looked around and finally became interested in a pair of mugs on display. The shape looked a little strange. It made her wonder if they were a pair of mugs or vases.
“Young Miss, they are not for sale.”
.....
“Ah?” Hearing the voice, Zhang Li Xue quickly turned around.
Behind her, an amiable-looking old man was smiling at her.
The old man pointed at the pair of mugs and spoke, “They were only for display.” He alternated his gaze between Zhang Li Xue and Bai Qi. “Are you two interested in pottery?”
“Mmm... I’ve never thought about it before,” Zhang Li Xue admitted.
The old man laughed. Then, he began to speak about his work and pottery enthusiastically. “Young Miss, if you are interested, you can come over to my shop nearby the east plaza.” He took out his card from the table and handed it over to both Zhang Li Xue and Bai Qi. “Take this. If you are free, you should come and give it a try.”
Zhang Li Xue inspected the business card silently.
“These days, doing pottery on a date has become a trend for young couples,” the old man said. “We also have a package for couples who wanted to try and learn. Young miss, it will be the perfect date idea for you and your boyfriend.”
It took her a while to finally registered the old man’s words.
Zhang Li Xue raised her head and looked at the old man in horror. “Actually, we are not...”
Her words were left unfinished.
A young boy was running around and almost broke one of the vases that were on display. His mother panicked and started to scold the boy. And the old man had no other choice but to go over and look at the situation.
Zhang Li Xue let out a sigh. She raised her head and met Bai Qi’s gaze. “I guess, that grandpa misunderstood our relationship.”
Bai Qi merely smiled upon hearing her words. He actually did not mind that the old man had misunderstood their relationship. The thought that the outsiders would view them as a couple made him happy.
However, Bai Qi was aware that it would be a while before that would happen.
He needed to improve more so that he could stand proudly beside his little fairy.
Zhang Li Xue coughed and pointed out. “Let’s just go and walk around.”
“Alright,” Bai Qi nodded.
As they continued to walk, Zhang Li Xue could only lower her head and did not dare to look up. She was a little worried about what Bai Qi might think after the old man had misunderstood.
Just then, Bai Qi’s phone chimed. He glanced at the caller ID and his expression quickly changed.
“Li Xue.”
His voice made her heart tremble.
Zhang Li Xue stood up straight before turning to Bai Qi again. “Ah?”
“I’m going to answer a call,” Bai Qi said. “I will be back after a while. Stay here, alright?”
Her gaze fell on the phone in Bai QI’s hand. “Oh.” She nodded. “Go ahead. I’ll just be around here.”
Bai Qi flashed a smile before turning around to answer the call from the hospital. The moment he spoke, his expression turned serious.
Zhang Li Xue watched as the man walked away to a quiet corner and sighed. Now that Bai Qi was away, she could finally heave in relief.
Going out with Bai Qi today gave her a rollercoaster of emotion.
It made her flustered. It was the first time that she felt this way and she did not know what she should do.
Zhang Li Xue raised her hand and placed it on her chest.
Until now, her heart was beating loudly against her ribcage.
She took a few deep breaths to calm down. Then, Zhang Li Xue started to walk around and finally stopped at a shop that was selling some jewelry.
Her gaze fell on a few cute hair clips and she was quickly reminded of Little Xi Xi. Zhang Li Xue picked up a few suitable styles and paid for them.
Seeing that Bai Qi was still on the phone, Zhang Li Xue continued to look around the shop. A bracelet caught her eyes and Zhang Li Xue held it in her hand. The design was very simple and cute.
“I’m sorry.”
Zhang Li Xue turned around when she heard Bai Qi’s voice.
“Did you wait for long?”
She shook her head and smiled. “It’s not that long.” She raised the small paper bag in her hand. “I bought a little something for Xi Xi. They’re just some hair clips that she could use. Help me to pass it over to her.”
Bai Qi took the bag from her. His gaze turned softer, knowing that his little fairy would still think of his little sister. “Thank you. I’m sure that Xi Xi would love them.”
“Are you done with your phone call?”
“Mmm...” Bai Qi nodded. “Li Xue, I’m sorry. But I need to return to the hospital. Something happened to one of the patients.”
Zhang Li Xue grew anxious when she heard his words. “Then, we better go back quickly. Come on. I’ll give you a ride.”
On their way to the hospital, Zhang Li Xue continued to focus on the road while Bai Qi was discussing something with his colleague.
Fortunately, the park was not too far away from the hospital. They arrived in fifteen minutes.
As Zhang Li Xue pulled over in front of the hospital building, Bai Qi alighted from the vehicle and flashed a smile. “Thank you.”
“Go. Go. You don’t need to be polite.”
“Text me when you arrived home, alright?”
Zhang Li Xue nodded. Then, she watched Bai Qi leave and sighed. She couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed that this outing had to end earlier.
