Chapter 32
Zhang Li Xue and her classmates were busy practicing the songs they were planning to perform for their parents. It was decided that they were going to sing a total of two songs. They were going to wear pretty clothes as they stood on the stage.
Although Zhang Li Xue was not chosen to sing a solo part, she was still happy that she get to stand on the stage with her friends.
When her family members heard that she was going to perform with her friends, everyone excitedly wanted to join in the fun. Her uncle Wei Jun Hao had already planned to bring his video camera so that he could record her performance later.
Her father heard about this performance and wanted to come as well. He promised to recuperate well just so he could attend the celebration and watch her singing with her friends.
Zhang LI Xue was happy to hear that everyone planned to show up. It would be the first time that she would be performing on stage and the little girl was looking forward to the day to come.
That morning, her teacher gathered everyone in the gymnasium so that the children could prepare for the celebration day to come.
.....
Because they were younger, Zhang Li Xue and her classmates were arranged to be the second to perform on the stage.
The teacher started to play the piano and everyone started to sing. Although they made some mistakes, everyone seemed to have so much fun.
After their turn, her class was asked to sit down to watch the other’s performance as well.
Zhang Li Xue had heard from Bai Qi that his class was going to perform Little Red Riding Hood and he was going to play as a tree. Coincidentally, Bai Qi’s class was arranged to perform after her class.
As the senior student appeared on the stage, Zhang Li Xue and the others began to clap to give their support.
“Li Xue, do you know what they were going to perform?” Fang Su Jin asked. Because this was only a practice, everyone was not wearing their costume yet.
Seeing a few of the senior students standing in the middle of the stage made them wonder just what everyone was up to.
“I heard that they were going to perform Little Red Riding Hood,” Zhang Li Xue spoke.
Fang Su Jin’s eyes lit up. “I love this story. My mom read it to me a few times. I think Little Red Riding Hood is very courageous. She dared to go into the woods by herself to send some food to her grandmother.”
Zhang Li Xue thought about her words and agreed.
The others began to discuss the story. However, Zhang Li Xue was busy looking at the stage.
Bai Qi had told her that he was going to play as a tree and she was curious to see him performing with his classmates.
Soon, the rehearsal began.
The girl who was playing Little Red Riding Hood appeared on the stage and started to sing happily on stage. Then, the big bad wolf appeared.
Zhang Li Xue and her classmates watched the performance quietly.
Just then, the scene on the stage changed.
Zhang Li Xue spotted Bai Qi coming out on the stage with his hands spread out. Beside him, there were a few others of his classmates who were also chosen as the tree.
A boy suddenly appeared on the stage bringing an axe in his hand. He walked over to Bai Qi and started to swing his axe on Bai Qi’s legs.
Zhang Li Xue quickly recognized this boy as Mu Zhen Yu.
She had almost forgotten that both Bai Qi and Mu Zhen Yu were in the same class. Unexpectedly, Mu Zhen Yu would be chosen as the woodcutter.
In the end, the classmates stood in the center of the stage together and bowed to the audience.
Zhang Li Xue joined the others and clapped happily.
“Li Xue,” Fang Su Jin leaned over and whispered. “I wanted to go to the restroom. Will you come with me?” She batted her eyes to plead. To watch the performance, Fang Su Jin has been holding herself. She could no longer hold the urge to visit the restroom.
“Aright.” Zhang Li Xue quickly agreed. After informing the teacher, the two girls then head out to the restroom.
As her friend entered the restroom, Zhang Li Xue decided to wait for her friend outside.
Her eyes caught the silhouette of someone familiar walking by. Zhang Li Xue waved her hand and called the boy’s name. “Bai Qi!”
His steps halted. Bai Qi turned around and was surprised to see that the little fairy was around as well. The little girl ran over to his side and smiled brightly.
“You... what are you doing here?”
Zhang Li Xue stood up straight. “Accompanying my friend.”
“Then, you should return to the gymnasium when you’re done. Otherwise, your teacher would worry.”
“Alright.” Zhang Li Xue nodded. “I saw your performance just now.”
Bai Qi lowered his head shyly. He thought of how he had to stand on the stage and pretend to be a tree and was embarrassed. “What do you think?”
“I think you’re doing great.” Zhang Li Xue said.
Bai Qi let out a sigh of relief when the girl did not criticize his acting. He had thought that acting as a tree was ridiculous, but the girl did not seem to think so. “Next time, everyone will be wearing costumes. The performance should be a little better.”
Once he was in a costume, perhaps he would not look so ridiculous as a tree.
“Then, I will look forward to your performance,” Zhang Li Xue said. “I did not expect that Brother Zhen Yu would act as the woodcutter. Everyone in your class has been working very hard for the performance.”
Bai Qi pursed his lips into a thin line.
He had long realized that there was a problem with the way this little fairy had addressed him, but he had never brought up this matter previously.
It was not fair. Bai Qi had always felt uncomfortable when the girl addressed Mu Zhen Yu as Brother Zhen Yu. They sounded intimate and he did not like it.
“Li Xue.”
“Hmm?”
“Why do you always call Mu Zhen Yu Brother Zhen Yu and addressed me as Bai Qi? Mu Zhen Yu and I are the same age, you know.”
Zhang Li Xue thought over his words and realized that she had indeed addressed them differently. This was certainly not appropriate. Especially now that she knew that Bai Qi was her senior. “Then, should I call you Brother Bai Qi?”
Bai Qi only wanted the girl to remove the word ‘brother’ from Mu Zhen Yu’s name. However, he did not expect that she would change the way she addressed him instead.
Brother Bai Qi sounded good, especially with her soft voice.
Swiftly, Bai Qi’s face turned redder. “That... that’s fine too.”
“Then, I will call you Brother Bai Qi.”
The girl flashed a bright smile at him, making his heartbeat accelerate. Panic, Bai Qi quickly ran away to enter the boys’ restroom to hide.
