Chapter 98
“Yes, she is very beautiful in white,” I said, looking at her with a neutral expression.
“Then why didn’t you give her one of your white weapons to put on display,” Sammy said, confused.
‘Because they are made out of ice. She will fry those things in seconds if used and why the hell will she put it on display.’ I thought, giving her a deadpan look.
“Don’t give me that look. You gave enough weapons to make the auction house give us a VIP room!” Sammy said, gesturing to the room we were sitting in overlooking a stage where I presume the auction will happen.
“I just gave them 15, and they aren’t that good,” I said, waving her off.
“They might not be good, but those will do good on display for a lot of nobles here tonight. I won’t be surprised if everyone goes for over 1000 gold coins.” Sammy said, huffing. The room also had a one-sided class, and if we wanted to bet, we just press a button that was on a small table in front of us.
“Oh, so you’re saying I should get at least 15000 gold coins?”
.....
“No, your scythe will go for that price alone. I think your knives will go for a thousand while the rest will go for more than 5000 each.”
“... your wording is confusing. So how much do you think I am going to make,” I said, tilting my head at her.
“Over 50 000.”
“Whistle, damn, and I thought I would have to break in to get what I wanted. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have made so much money.” I said, smiling at Sammy.
“break-in?” Sammy said, confused.
“Yeah, I didn’t know how to come to the black market, but thanks to you, here I am,” I said, smiling at her.
“You!” Sammy shouted before trying to run out of the room, only to feel something wrap around her legs.
“No, you don’t. Sit down; I am not going to do anything major. I am just looking into a metal.” I said, pulling the chains that she lands on her original seat before wrapping her more with chains holding her down.
“Let me go. I can’t trust you,” Sammy said, glaring at me.
“Sheesh, you’re the one who brought me, and I just want to know what this is, that’s all. I am on vacation, and this metal just intrigued me, and it’s connected to some people going against the church.” I said, showing her the black knife from the afternoon.
“A knife made out of demon rock intrigued you? A metal that’s as strong as Steal but as light as air.” Sammy said subconsciously.
“Is this called demon rock? Well, thank you for that, but why does it sound like it’s not very rare.”
“Well, in the last couple of years, demon rock became more and more common, so it’s nothing new to us,” Sammy explains, looking straight into my eyes.
“By us, you mean the black market?” I asked, intrigued.
“Yes, we see those things all the time,” Sammy said, not meeting my eyes.
“Huh, so if it’s so common, what’s the price on it,” I asked, smiling at her.
“Let’s say for daggers. They will probably be 30 gold coins.”
“That is boring. I thought it’s going to be more interesting as there are pillars of these created in the destroyed church.” I said, deflated at the information.
“I heard about that. They say there is a terrorist group targeting the church and when they destroy a church, a pillar of demon rock and 6 priests are all that’s left.” Sammy explains, not going into much detail.
“And some rubble from the church itself. But the rest is spot-on information. Do you have any idea who this terrorist group is and what their goals are?” I asked, looking into Sammy’s eyes.
“No idea who they are, but it’s obvious that their goal is to destroy the church,” Sammy said, giving me a grin.
“Your wrong. A group like that won’t just go after the church. There is something more they want to do, but they are too good at keeping themselves on the downlow. Not even the king knows about them.” I said with a sigh. Just then, the lights of the auction house started to time with 4 spotlights going on and eliminating the stage where a 40-year-old or so stood wearing a suit.
“It seems it’s starting,” Sammy said, getting more comfortable with the chains around her.
“Yeah, they took their time,” I commented.
“Ahem, ahem, good afternoon, guest. Sorry for the delay. We had last-minute merchandise delivered to us to sell of tonight.” The announcer said with a small bow before throwing his hands up in the air and started shouting. “Now let the 20th annual Black market auction house event begin!!”
“Don’t shout like that, moron. We don’t have hearing problems!” I shouted from the VIP room, making him look up at our room confused.
“Anyways, let’s bring out the first item. This item was just brought to us tonight. It’s 2 beautiful daggers made out of ice. We did test them, and they can be used for combat. However, I won’t recommend it as they are two beautiful craftmanship weapons.” The announcer said, ignoring me and explaining the first item that happens to be the daggers I gave them.
“This bastard is degrading my weapons. I work so hard on them.” I said aggressively.
‘Those took like 50 mana of mine to make.’
“You made them.”
“Yes, of course, I made them,” I said, annoyed.
“We will start the bidding at 8 00 gold coins.”
“950.”
“1 000”
“Ho Ho, he does know how to make money,” I said, having forgotten everything he said before.
“You really love money, don’t you?”
“Heh, of course, without money, I won’t be able to buy anything after all,” I said, smiling at her.
“Sigh, whatever.”
“Sold for 1250 gold coins to number 36.”
“Yeah! Make me more money boldy.” I shouted again, this time of happiness.
Knock knock.
“Hmm, did I already get a noise complaint?” I said, looking back at the door. “Come in.”
“Sorry to bother ma’am, but please keep it down.” A security guy said, opening the door before seeing me a nod before leaving again.
“To think the security guards will be that strong here,” I said with a nervous grin. ‘Level 700 rare class. I guess I should have brought Kayda. She is going to kill when she finds out.’ I thought, shaking my head.
“Of course, they are. What did you think? This is the black-market fights happen a lot here.”
“That’s true. Anyway, what is he selling now?” I said, looking back at the announcer.
“A white brooch made out of white stone that comes from the mountain of ice.” The auction house announcer said, taking my attention.
“We will start the bid at 1 000 gold coins.” The announcer said, making my eyes go wide.
“These things are expensive,” I commented, making Sammy look at me weirdly. Seeing her look at me like that, I turned towards her and spoke. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You are happy that your weapons go for so much but get surprised when other items go for so much.”
“Yeah, and what’s wrong with that?” I said with a raised eyebrow.
“I guess it is nothing in your books,” Sammy said, looking back to the stage.
“I think I should get her a robe or something that would fir her not like a brooch. I don’t see her wearing it,” I said, tapping my chin.
“You said she was your lover, right?” Sammy said. Seeing my nod, she continued. “She will probably take anything you give her and wear it.”
“Not quite I dint know her that long, but I have never seen her wear something like that,” I said, shaking my head at her.
“That might be so, but it will come from you. That will mean a lot, but the brooch already got sold. So too late for that one.” Sammy explains seeing them bringing the next items, which were not too surprising, one of my katana with an ice sheath.
“It’s another ice weapon that we received not long-”
“100 000 gold coins.” A female shouted from another VIP room.
“Why does that voice remind me of someone,” I mumbled to myself, feeling my back break out in a cold sweat.
“You know her. Her name is Grandenzil. She is the leader of the crimson bandits.” Sammy explains, making me have a coughing fit.
“Shit, I might die tonight. If not from her, Kay will do it herself.” I said with a nervous smile while looking at the VIP room Grandenzil was in.
“Do you have beef with Grandenzil?”
“Not really,” I said, waving her off.
“So, you have beef with us,” Sammy said with a sly grin, making me narrow my eyes at her before disappearing from my sitting position.
“Once again, we have a weapon made out of demon rock, but this is no ordinary weapon. They are great for close and long-range attacks. I present to you 6 chakrams made out of demon rock.” The announcer said gallantly. Hearing him say chakrams, I looked away from Sammy in my hand at the stage where the weapons were brought up.
“Now this I want,” I said, gagging and restraining Sammy. Looking at her, I added. “If you want to stay alive, shut up, okay.”
