Two weeks later, Qu Xiao was pushing Shang Yan up the courtyard to bask in the Sun when she suddenly received a call from Mr. Qu.

According to their plan, the government-supported project had already smoothly fallen into the hands of the Qu Group. This was right about the time when the Qu group should be facing a financial turnover problem. If they could not get anymore funding, they would face a situation where their financial chain would break, and all of the Qu Group’s efforts would be in vain.

Mr. Qu paced around anxiously. The phone rang for a while and Qu Xiao answered perfunctorily, “What’s the matter?”

“Do you know that there’s a problem with the project? Sell the shares in your hands for cash!”

“Otherwise, if something happens to the company, you won’t be able to get the remuneration that you want! Qu Xiao, don’t waste any more time...”

Mr. Qu growled in a high-pitched voice. Qu Xiao switched the call to speaker mode. She looked into Shang Yan’s eyes and smirked.

After a long while, Qu Xiao cleared her throat and replied, “Since the shares are now mine, i definitely won’t sell them!”

“But I can give you some information. Shang Yan is very persistent on government-supported projects. Recently, he’s been asking about the Qu Group’s status. He’s planning to acquire the project at a low price when you guys give up. I advise you to think of a way to borrow money from the bank.”

Qu Xiao hung up the phone after she finished speaking. She covered her mouth and bent over with a smile.

Shang Yan looked sideways at Li and said, “Arrange for our people to contact the Qu family and sign a loan contract with them under the name of a third party. They are required to use 15% of their company’s shares as collateral. If they are unable to pay it back within two months, we will receive the shares according to the contract. There are no other options.”

Li silently noted it down. He quietly raised his eyes and looked at the back view of Shang Yan and Qu Xiao.

Boss and Madam are really ruthless!

When Qu Xiao ran to the kitchen to prepare fresh fruit for Shang Yan, Shang Yan called Li to his side. He looked at the busy Qu Xiao through the glass doors and windows and said with love in his eyes, “the 15% of the Qu Group’s shares will be directly transferred to Qu Xiao. The loan amount will be transferred from my private account. This has nothing to do with the company. Remember to handle the matter properly and not have any loopholes!”

Li suppressed his shocked emotions and said, “Alright.”

Shang Yan’s fingertips gently tapped on the armrest of his wheelchair as he said to himself, “Whatever the Qu family owes her, I will get it back for her bit by bit.”

...

In the Qu family villa, Mr. Qu looked at the terms of the contract in front of him with some hesitation.

He held the pen in his hand and refused to sign the contact until the employee of the loan company impatiently urged him, “Mr. Qu do you want to think it through again? There are other companies that want to sign a contract with us. When you have thought it through, contact us again...”

Mr. Qu took a deep breath. He gritted his teeth and signed his name with his eyes closed, successfully getting the funds for the project.

Three days later, the government issued a red-headed approval. Due to objective factors and policy changes, many projects had to be shelved for half a year.

Mr. Qu was immediately flustered when he heard the news. He was so anxious that he made countless calls.

The Qu Group had invested all of their funds in this project. They could not even stop the progression of the project for half a day. If not, they would not be able to repay the loan due in 2 months.

The manager of the Finance Department went to Mr. Qu’s office to remind him, “Our company only has 500,000 left...”

Mr. Qu grabbed the glass utensils placed on his desk in a fit of rage and slammed them on the ground.

Then, Mr. Qu thought of Qu Xiao. He picked up his car keys and headed straight for the Shang family villa, wanting to make a final struggle with the shares in Qu Xiao’s hands.

On the way to the villa, Mr. Qu dialed Qu Xiao’s number, but she didn’t pick up.

“Qu Xiao, come out now!”

“I want to see my daughter. Get out of my way. Where’s CEO Shang? I want to go in...”

The bodyguards stopped Mr. Qu outside the Shang family villa. He was on the verge of going crazy as he struggled with the bodyguards, shouting and cursing loudly.

Qu Xiao and Shang Yan were drinking afternoon tea in the bedroom on the second floor. They looked at Mr. Qu through the window.

Shang Yan silently observed Qu Xiao’s expression. After all, he was her father. Seeing that the matter had escalated to such an extent, he raised his hand to hold Qu Xiao’s hand, wanting to comfort her and give her strength.

Qu Xiao raised her eyes in puzzlement and revealed a brilliant smile to him. “It’s alright.”

“The Qu family treats me as a tool and a servant, but they don’t treat me as a relative. If that’s the case, what’s wrong with me treating them the same way? Don’t worry, I’m not sad.”

Shang Yan felt his heart clench in pain. He hugged Qu Xiao in his arms and slowly tightened his grip on her shoulder.
