Chapter 67: Momentary Thoughts Part 14 Part 2

Chapter 67: Momentary Thoughts Part 14 Part 2

I fucking knew it! Don’t underestimate the Uber Bosses! And what’s with that name, it sounded mighty powerful! Was that because I mocked his favorite food……? No, wait, calm down, why would rice even have anything to do with this?

Even if I was to activate both Skate Foot and Best Step at the same time, I don’t think I would be able to avoid that attack in time. I don’t even want to think what would happen if I was to get hit by an attack like that, even though I would probably end up dying on the spot. Also, my current location was rather poor for any accurate dodges.

「………」

「………」

「………」

Even though Pencilgton and Katsu were busy with their individual tasks at the moment, there was this really awkward silence right now that was making it really embarrassing for me. While still doing my best to avoid the attacks, I was trying to get as close to Pencilgton as I possibly could.

「Mael……」

「Uhyaah!」

「I fucking knew this would happen!」

It was foolish of us to think that the Boss would show us any kind of mercy. Rather, you could always be sure that if the Boss could show you absolutely no mercy and crush you like a bug, he would do just that.

Seeing that the Gravekeeper changed his target to Pencilgton, I tried to slash it with his own greatsword, hoping that it would be more than enough to shift his aggro right back to me and give Pencilgton even more time. How about that? How does it feel when you are being attacked with your own weapon, huh?

「…… strom.」

「Uguoh!?」

I felt a strong shock and my whole body felt as though it was floating. …… Sh*t, I just got grabbed. No, but this is actually good. This way Pencilgton won’t be targeted……

「Ubeh!?」

The world suddenly spun uncontrollably all around me, there was a huge shock, and then everything went dark for a moment only to be brought back to normal mere seconds later. Was I instantly revived the moment I was smashed against the ground like a rag doll?

Sh*t, it felt as though I was thrown into a huge washing machine only to be squashed by a hydraulic press right after that. Right after I finished being revived by Pencilgton, I jumped back up and put some distance between us.

「Even without his sword he’s still crazy dangerous……」

Its reach may have been shortened, but instead he gained some rather powerful attacks to compensate. We needed to readjust our strategy and update our mind charts with those new attacks, or else we might be in some serious trouble here.

「Come on! Is that the best you can do!? At this rate we might as well kill one another if you’ll drag on like that!」

「Tachikaze.」

「Woah!?」

What a murderous aura! There was no doubt about it right now! It was going for the kill quite seriously right now!

In the background I could still hear the sound of the ground shaking violently. It was proof that Katsu was still holding on, making this rodeo a spectacle of the century.

「NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!?!?!?!?!?!?!?」

It was only after a few seconds after Katsu started to ride the “KIRIIN” that he realized that all of his preparations were basically useless.

「K, Katsu! Are you hanging in there somehow!?」

「Sh, shomwehouew~!!!」

「Eh? Dude! What kind of language was that just now!?」

It wasn’t like anything he has ever experienced before in his life. It was certainly not some kind of roller coaster that you could ride without even holding onto the railings. Right now he was nothing but a rag doll, and if not for the rope he brought himself, he would have fallen off the horse long ago.

(Oh sh*t……! Centrifugal force is too much……!)

Even when he thought he was going to be swung to the left, he was immediately thrown to the right with tremendous momentum.

Moreover, every single time he was bouncing in the “saddle” of “KIRIN” he was receiving small damage if he failed to cling to its back. If not for the HP regenerating accessory that Pencilgton gave him before the fight, his number of deaths would have been terrifying by now.

(Up until now, let’s see…… two deaths. But I still have it better than Sanraku, for he can basically get one-shotted without fail.)

Pencilgton was doing his absolute best to keep on reviving them if need be, but it was starting to become obvious that the pressure of having to fit that into the ten seconds window was also starting to take its toll on him.

Katsu stopped thinking about all that and concentrated on the rodeo again right about the time where shakes and tremors intensified.

(Sh*t, Sanraku would have performed here much better than I am with his stats……!)

Katsu…… He might have been a pro gamer, but because of that people would often misunderstand his playstyle. In reality, he was a true strategist. Before every fight, he would try to gather as much intel on his enemies, thinking of best strategies and possible solutions for every possible type of situation that might happen on the battlefield during the fight……. That was the thing he was excelling at. That was his true “strength” as a gamer.

In that regard, this fight was the polar opposite of everything that Katsu stood for.

Katsu was unsatisfied that they had too little information for comfort, and the fact that they knew even less about their opponent was making him even angrier.

(What to do……? It’s impossible for me to adjust my position while this thing is rampaging so much!)

He felt much like a yo-yo, being brutally swung around in every direction possible. If it keeps going like this, sooner rather than later the durability of the rope is going to run out. Then he would be in real deep sh*t.

「Ouch!」

While his body is being hit against the metal frame of the war horse, Katsu experienced a sudden enlightenment.

(…… Ahh, I see it now. I’m basically swung around like this because I’m not standing up.)

A battlefield where the scales shone, the rope danced around and a half-naked birdman struggled. They were two minutes short of having engaged Gravekeeper Wezaemon for twenty minutes.
