Chapter 28 - 28: Thoughts

Chapter 28: Ideas

Upon returning home, Xiang Kun reviewed and revised his recent training plan. He decided to temporarily stop patrolling the streets all night. There are many ways to train his sense of hearing and smell.

Furthermore, his auditory and olfactory abilities have greatly increased after his blood consumption. Even when suppressed during the day, these abilities remain incredibly strong, making him unaffected by noisy sounds or various smells in bustling areas.

Like today, where he zoomed in on a disguised suspect simply through his scent, in the middle of a busy city district.

Xiang Kun disguised and encrypted the various data regarding his body mutations stored on his computer. He had initially created some camouflage, making it difficult for anyone to find those documents on his computer. They couldn’t be found in either the quick access bar or browsing history.

Meanwhile, he would also automatically clear his online browsing traces before closing the browser.

However, this level of disguise is virtually pointless in front of a computer expert who is predisposed to find out the truth. They could easily find those documents.

After today’s incidents, especially since his nighttime patrolling habits were discovered, Xiang Kun felt the need to be extra cautious.

The folders containing documents recording his body changes were further packaged, disguised, and encrypted by him. They now seem like a dll file under some application program folder. To open it, you need a password. Despite the password only containing six digits, if you enter it incorrectly twice, it triggers a script inserted by Kun. The documents inside would then be rewritten with random codes for added security.

Xiang Kun kept wondering what might happen if his mutation situation was exposed. Due to the countless possibilities and the lack of any reference cases, he couldn’t come up with a definite answer.

In the end, Xiang Kun decided that he would do everything in his power to successfully conceal and camouflage his condition until he discovers any other similar “cases”.

Following that, Xiang Kun took a knife and made a small cut on his fingertip, then started timing.

The wound was only a few millimeters long, and the oozing blood hung off the wound like a red fruit.

After wiping off the blood, Xiang Kun observed the wound, taking a picture every once in a while, just as he did before.

Last time, before he drank blood, Xiang Kun discovered that his wounds heal much faster than an average person. Hence, he engaged in a night-long “self-harm” session with the idea of “targeted training”.

However, since then, he shifted his main training focus to auditory and olfactory enhancement, so he did not allocate time for any targeted training.

After awakening from his slumber induced by blood consumption, he hadn’t yet checked if his regeneration ability had undergone any changes.

13 minutes passed, and the wound on Xiang Kun’s finger was practically unnoticeable.

After that, Xiang Kun made similar cuts of various depth and length on different areas of his body, like his other arm and his thigh. As before, the healing completed in approximately 13 minutes, the deviation never exceeding 5 seconds.

He can confirm that his healing ability has improved. Before his previous blood consumption, the healing tests he conducted after sunset consistently took around 15 minutes.

However, Xiang Kun wasn’t certain whether his targeted “self-harm training” aided the enhancement of his healing ability.

After some consideration, Xiang Kun decided to include “self-harm training” in his targeted training schedule for the next few days.

Since he won’t go out patrolling at night anymore, he can conduct these training sessions at home.

This time he will be adopting an even more aggressive “self-harm” approach to further explore his healing capabilities.

In terms of his daytime training schedule, he was considering taking up martial arts training. Officer Chen assumed that he had practiced martial arts from a young age, but in reality, Xiang Kun had never practiced martial arts

Whether it was handling the thug attacking the couple in the building last time or nailing the knife-wielding suspect on the street today, Xiang Kun operated mainly out of instinctual or impromptu reactions.

Despite both men being armed, Xiang Kun did not feel threatened at all during the confrontations. He did not feel any fear or tension, and their movements were easily predictable under his dynamic vision. Coupled with his superior strength, there was no need for any martial arts techniques.

Strength, responses, speed and more… It’s clear that he is already near the human peak, and if you include his enhanced senses, he can be considered to have surpassed the average human.

If he were to add martial arts techniques as well, would it further enhance his physiological advantages?

After giving it some thought, he decided to visit the boxing gym below the fitness center tomorrow to check it out. Apparently, they had a coach who was a top contender in the provincial sparring competition. He wondered if he could sign-up for a short-term course.

Having finished his training plan, Xiang Kun felt a bit pressed for time. Even if he didn’t need to sleep without drinking blood, thus having a full 24 hours a day, the actual time he could allocate between two blood-drinking sessions was only about 5 days.

According to the timeline, he should feel hunger in two days, which would be August 5.

He was due to go hiking with Tang Baona and others on August 4. According to Tang Baona, that venture is likely to take up the majority of the day.

In other words, the time available in this round of blood-drinking cycle to “guide” his mutation through targeted training was quite limited.

On the morning of August 4, at 6:30 AM.

Yang Zhen Er takes her MINI, with Tang Baona, to pick up Kun.

After the “misunderstanding” on the street the day before yesterday and personally witnessing Xiang Kun’s shocking takedown of the knife-wielding criminal, it became clear to Yang Zhen Er that the bald “expert” in the video was Xiang Kun. Thus, her attitude towards him had clearly changed.

The identity of the unemployed middle-aged programmer was suddenly cloaked with a veil of mystery.

However, upon seeing Xiang Kun come downstairs dressed in sports shorts, white boarded shoes, and carrying a multi-functional computer backpack, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

“Why are you dressed like this?” After greeting him as he got in the car, Yang Zhen’er asked.

Kun was taken aback. “Didn’t you say we were going for a hike? Shouldn’t we wear something loose and comfortable?”

Tang Baona said, “Forget it. We hadn’t planned to stay overnight on the mountain anyway, and the trail isn’t that rugged.”

Yang Zhen’er then didn’t comment any further on Kun’s attire. As she made a U-turn, she asked, “Mr. Xiang, you bought a new house, right? So why are you living here?”

The building Kun just emerged from was clearly private housing, indicating that he was renting.

“The house that I bought is not around here, it’s in the outer ring. I rent here because it’s closer to the company where I used to work,” Kun casually replied. It wasn’t surprising to him that she knew he bought a house. Wang Han had relayed the “blind date conditions” to her during their chat two nights ago, so it was normal for her to know.

“Is your house still under construction?” she asked.

“No, I got the house a long time ago, but I rented it out.”

“Why would you rent out your own house and rent another place instead? The environment here doesn’t seem to be great,” Yang Zhen Er said, perplexed.
