Chapter 231: An Array Formation!?

He was still waiting for the Old City Lord to tell him about the origin of the monsters that attacked RiverBloom.

The City Lord regained his bearings before his ancient voice started to echo out:

"These monsters invaded from the heart of the Great Wildlands Forest." He began with a stringent tone.

"They got here through a teleportation circle that I set up using my knowledge of array formations"

His voice cracked a little when he reached the part that involved him.

Eldric would never forgive himself for allowing those bastards to rampage through his city! He would never allow a lapse in judgment like what occurred to happen again!

As long as the citizens would still have him, the City Lord would work his entire life toward making it up to them!

Eldric didn\'t care about his wealth, his comfort, or anything like that! If he were to ask for one mercy, then he would just want his Ariana to stay safe

And if the citizens decided not to forgive him and demanded his death, then he would gladly accept his fate!

But before such a moment came, the City Lord had to win this youngster over!

After all, he was his only chance at keeping Ariana safe

.....

"An array formation?? Does that pertain to what I think it does?" Azmond inquired with a slight grin plastered on his face.

"Yes, it\'s the Array Formation profession. And it\'s also one of the professions I was fortunate enough to acquire an affinity for at birth," Eldric responded with a slight smile.

His mood improved a little when he was reminded of the noble profession that he had talent for.

Even in the Royal Capital of AquaRing, possessing a profession like that of an array master would earn one privilege\'s equivalent to that of a novice archmage.

"Anyway, as I was saying, I set up the array that allowed the majority of the monsters to teleport straight into the city while the rest of the monsters invaded from outside the city. However, all of them were sent from the same place...

That place being the heart of the Great Wildlands Forest, or more specifically from an organization called the \'Nightmare Council!\'"

"The Nightmare Council?" Azmond questioned.

He had never heard of such an organization. And he had lived in the depths of the Great Wildlands Forest for over ten years.

Or at least Azmond thought he was living in the depths; however, the City Lord\'s next words would completely alter that notion of his.

...

"Yes, the Nightmare Council; it\'s a group of hundreds of thousands of monster kings and queens that grouped together underneath the rule of nine Monster Emperorsall of which are in the Tribulation Transcendence Realm."

The City Lord\'s words came out a little shaky as a slight sense of trepidation welled up within him when he reached the part about the Monster Emperor\'s.

"They congregate at the very heartthe deepest part of the Great Wildlands Forest. You wouldn\'t be able to walk around for five minutes without witnessing a monster \'king\' surveying the area," he elaborated with a weary countenance.

"Oh? And how did you come into contact with this \'Nightmare Council\'?" Azmond asked with an eyebrow slightly raised.

This \'Nightmare Council\' sounded like quite an intimidating group of intelligent monsters. So the real question was how someone of the \'human faction\' got into contact with such an elusive group like the \'Nightmare Council\'.

"Well Although I am embarrassed to admit it, the truth is that they did not contact me. I contacted them," Eldric began with a disdainful tone.

He disdained himself!

The City Lord couldn\'t believe he had brought such ruin to the very city that he and Ariana built up together!

"I wanted to find a miracle drug that was rumored to be in the possession of one of the high-ranking Monster Queen\'s. And the Monster Queen in question promised me that she would uphold her end of the deal as long as I did everything she asked.

However, she didn\'t communicate with me directly; that is what that basilisk was for."

His expression became a little twisted when he recalled the damn smirk on that scaly bastard\'s face.

"I see" Azmond brooded over the matter for a moment before returning his focus back to the City Lord.

The City Lord continued on with his explanation and informed Azmond of all the details revolving around the \'agreement\' he made with the monsters; however, such information wasn\'t really that important. So Azmond glossed over it and moved on to what he considered the most important part.

"So, where exactly is this \'Nightmare Council\' located?" He inquired with expectation building up inside him.

Just imagining the hundreds of thousands of large loot bags waiting for him somewhere in the Great Wildlands Forest had him salivating inside his mind!

There weren\'t many things as good as the feeling that came with acquiring more experience and gold!

"???" Question marks went off in the City Lord\'s head.

\'Why is this youngster so interested in the \'Nightmare Council\'? He isn\'t thinking about going to find them, is he!?\' A crazy thought entered his subconscious.

And it was very likely that really was his goal!

However, the astonishment that he felt quickly died away when he remembered that the youngster had already thwarted the plans of the Monster Race. And they were likely to come to him, demanding an \'explanation\'.

An \'explanation\' that would likely come with the price of his head on a platter...

After all, Azmond had not only killed just about every monster that invaded the City of RiverBloom. But he had also killed a General and two Titan-Class slaves of the monster race!

Even for an organization like the \'Nightmare Council\', those two Bigfoot-like monsters took no small sum of money and resources to produce.

They had every reason they needed to send out a headhunt order for the youngster!

\'Sigh\' Eldric couldn\'t help but become a little exasperated.

\'I need to tell him of the monster king ranks and the fact that this \'invasion\' was nothing more than the first monster wave of many to come for the human race,\' he thought.
