Chapter 798 Four Pillars: Moving in Secret
After that, he mentioned that he feared breaking something that could deal a lot of damage just because he wanted to try it out.
In response, the young man let out a chuckle, telling the two that it was more than fine for them to try the weapon out.
However, seeing as the two were adamant in refusing his offer, Valyr eventually let out a sigh as he brought out something from his spatial bracelet.
Whoosh!
Seeing a smaller firearm appear in the young man\'s hands, Hal and Vera looked at Valyr with slightly widened eyes as the latter explained what he had just brought out.
Informing them that he had just brought out a pistol, he then explained that the two operated in the same fashion but were used in two different situations.
At the same time, he assured them that it would be fine if they caused damage to the weapons he made, reminding them that he was the one who forged the weapons in the first place.
Of course, it was not without reason that he offered to teach the two how to use a firearm.
For one, with the skirmish between the orcs and humans having finally escalated into a full-on war, their side was going to need every advantage they could get.
Naturally, having everyone armed with firearms was one of them.
Especially with how much damage it could deal.
By teaching other people to operate a firearm beforehand, he could have more people pick up and adopt the firearm as a staple weapon, possibly allowing the scales to tip into their favor.
Aside from that, the other reason why he decided to teach the two how to use a firearm was because of Hal.
According to the history of Veldanyr from his past life, Hal had become known as the Monarch of Innovation during the War of the Three Sovereignties, bringing forth multiple technological innovations that allowed humans to stand their ground.
Among those many innovations, one of them was the firearm.
However, unlike the refined arquebus and pistol he had just shown to the two, the firearms that were in mass use at the time were crude in nature, their mechanics more akin to portable cannons than actual firearms.
With that, Valyr hoped that his firearms would help inspire Hal to achieve more innovations later down the line, bringing the average level of technology to humanity of heights far greater than in his past life.
Nevertheless, it went without saying that he would aid him in that regard as well.
And so, even though they were afraid of breaking it, Hal and Vera were eventually left with no choice but to handle the weapons Valyr had forged.
Listening to every instruction the young man had given them, the two gradually lost the fear they initially had while handling the firearms.
Instead, they looked at the weapons they were holding in surprise, feeling disbelief at the fact that operating a firearm was far simpler than they initially thought.
\'If only they knew if I could make it even simpler later on.\' Hearing such words being uttered by the two, Valyr inwardly let out an amused chuckle as he told the two to hold their weapons steady as they aimed.
Then, after he gave them a signal, Hal and Vera pressed on their weapon\'s triggers, sending out two bullets that zoomed through the air at great speeds.
Bang! Bang! n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
With the stats of the two being more or less comparable to his own, it went without saying that the feral humans that the two designated as targets had easily gone down for the count, their heads exploding into various bits and chunks.
Finally getting an idea on how simple and how destructive such a weapon was firsthand, Vera and Hal looked at the young man with a hint of excitement in their eyes, hoping to get their hands on a firearm on their own in case of emergency.
In response, the young man merely smiled, telling them that he would forge more of these weapons once they were out of the inheritance.
After the two had become acquainted with the potential of firearms, there was no surprise that the topic of firearms being used in the war had been brought up as they continued to eat their food.
Though he felt a faint smirk creep up on the edge of his lips as he heard this topic, Valyr looked at them with a solemn expression as he explained to the two in greater detail on what was needed to forge the firearm in the first place.
Hearing how one firearm needed a plethora of materials, as well as a Technology Tree that had its Innovation branch at an age of technology far beyond the norm, thoughts of firearms being used en masse during the war gradually dissipated.
In response, Valyr told them that it was possible to reduce the requirements needed to forge a firearm, allowing firearms to be mass produced if need be.
Hearing words of gratitude come from the two after that, with most of it coming from Hal, the trio continued on with their day, heading down their camp every once in a while to become more and more used to fighting against the feral humans.
Of course, during that time, Valyr showcased the arquebus in action once more, killing all of his foes from the comfort of the rooftop camp.
Though the two began to complain at how unfair such a weapon was, there was no doubt in their minds regarding the weapon\'s capabilities, with their first experience continuing to linger in their minds even after they had fallen asleep.
"I guess they\'re asleep by now." After telling the two that they could get some rest first, Valyr watched Hal and Vera enter their tents to get some shuteye.
Waiting a few minutes to see if the two had truly fallen asleep or not, the young man let out a faint sigh as he briefly stared at the roaring flames in the fire pit before him.
Taking in a deep breath, he then stood up from his seat as a rift to another world appeared before him.
Whoosh!
"I think it\'s due time for me to obtain my rewards."
