Chapter 231 Emulation

After all, it was only through combining the light armor set blueprints Arcenne had given him, the various armor set blueprints he got from the Blacksmith Guild, as well as the knowledge of a certain set of legendary armor from his previous life was he able to craft the armor set he had just given to Arcenne to identify.

Receiving the chestplate back from Arcenne, Valyr decided to activate [Analysis] on the chestplate to refresh his knowledge regarding the armor set\'s effects.

[(+10) Half Wyvern Chestplate (Emulation)] (Level 20)

Rarity: Uncommon+

Defense: 36 - 60

Additional Attributes:

> VIT +5

> STR +5

Forged by a true prodigy in the field of blacksmithing, this chestplate is inspired by the Empyrean Dragon Armor of legends, with the blacksmith hoping that part of the legendary armor\'s strength could be emulated. Utilizing materials that were similar in nature yet incredibly subpar when compared to the materials used to forge the Empyrean Dragon Armor, the blacksmith was fortunately successful in emulating part of its strength.

Though it could only be considered an incredibly subpar imitation of the real thing, it is still an item that is highly sought after by many people. Great potential still slumbers within the chestplate, with the possibility of it reaching a level of strength close to the Empyrean Dragon Armor not being low.

<Innate Skill 1: Grandeur of the Half Wyvern - Thanks to the power of Half Wyvern Blood infused within the armor, the level requirement for the armor has been reduced by 2 levels.>

<Innate Skill 2: Wyvern\'s Breath - Allows the user to shoot out a wave of flames in front of them, targeting all enemies within a 5 meter radius, dealing damage equivalent to 200% of the user\'s Attack stat. Also inflicts Burn damage that deals 10% of the user\'s Attack stat every second, lasting for 10 seconds. Cooldown: 5 minutes. Cost: 300 MP.>

\'I didn\'t even think the system would even consider the Half Wyvern Armor I forged as an imitation armor set.\' As this thought lingered in his mind, Valyr placed the chestplate back to where the other pieces of the Half Wyvern armor set were. \'After all, the materials I used are nowhere close to the things used to forge Empyrean Dragon Armor.\'

Though almost every item in Greater Beyond fell under a certain rarity, there existed items that transcended the definition of rarities, their abilities far surpassing the scope of an item under the rarity designated to them. At times, these items would even be considered Growth type or Pseudo-Growth type, allowing their abilities to reach tyrannical heights.

These items were known under multiple names depending on one\'s location within the universe of Greater Beyond. But for players, these items were only known under one name.

Artifacts.

Artifacts took on multiple forms. Some of them were in the form of armor, some were weapons, and some were miscellaneous items that fulfilled a certain purpose. Nevertheless, these items were one of a kind, which meant that no other copy of that artifact could be found within the universe.

But that didn\'t mean one couldn\'t mimic the abilities of an artifact.

With that kind of thinking, Replicas, Imitations, and Emulations were eventually born, all of them made with the purpose of copying the abilities of an artifact.

In terms of how close they were to the original artifact, Replicas were considered the closest, being able to emulate around 60% of the artifact\'s strength, with 90% being the best case scenario. After that were the Imitations, which were usually able to emulate around 25% of the artifact\'s strength, with 50% of the artifact\'s strength being considered the best of the best.

Last but not the least were the Emulations, such as the Half Wyvern Armor Valyr had forged. When compared to the artifact it was based off of, which in this case was the Empyrean Dragon Armor, it was only able to emulate one percent of the Empyrean Dragon Armor\'s strength.

In the best case scenario, an Emulation was only able to emulate 10% of the original artifact\'s strength, which Valyr knew he was able to do with the Half Wyvern Armor as long as he found the right materials to upgrade it.

After telling Arcenne once more that he was only able to craft the Half Wyvern Armor thanks to the blueprints she had given him, Valyr asked her who he could possibly be up against in the life and death duel tomorrow, clarifying that the man that informed him about the duel said that he would be up against someone from the emporium, not giving him a specific name.

With that, the two of them spent quite some time speculating on who he would be up against on the following day, categorizing the people from the emporium as to whether they would be the best opponents to test his armor against or not.

Ding!

Just as Valyr was about to head to sleep after having a hearty dinner with Wells outside, a notification sound resounded in his mind, which he swiftly found out was a message from Tryndall.

Opening up the message Tryndall sent him, the man asked him regarding the life and death duel that was going to happen tomorrow, as well as whether Valyr\'s participation in the duel was true or not. In response, Valyr sent back a reply that the duel was true, and that it was going to happen tomorrow.

"Did what we do last night have something to do with the duel?" Reading the message that Tryndall had just sent him, Valyr swiftly replied that he also had the same thoughts when he first heard about it, eventually telling him that the life and death duel was actually requested by people from the Hekaetos Forging Emporium.

After the two of them talked about how the people from the forging emporium were sore losers for forcing Valyr into a life and death duel just because he didn\'t accept their forging duel request, as well as the fact that they were humiliated in front of his smithy, Valyr then decided to apologize to Tryndall on how he wasn\'t of much help throughout the Clossbay Killer incident, recalling his conversation earlier with Arcenne.

Unsurprisingly, just like Arcenne, Tryndall told him that it was fine, saying that Valyr was only one person and how he had the authority to command other people to help him. Eventually, the two of them sorted out their misunderstandings, prompting Valyr to tell Tryndall how he appreciated his concern and how he was going to go sleep for the night.

Though, just as he was about to send the message to the man, a thought popped up in his mind, prompting him to change the message he was going to send to Tryndall.

"How\'s progress on finding the mastermind\'s identity?"
