Chapter 1049: 3 Talismans, 3 Failures, 3 Scrapped
Chapter 1049: 3 Talismans, 3 Failures, 3 Scrapped
Ren Bainian also knew that Shang Xia was attempting a rank six talisman and he quickly replied, “I’ll do my best. However, you should start thinking of a way to get your hands on a better brush. This isn’t going to be a long term solution...”
How could Shang Xia not understand that he needed a divine brush in order to complete a rank six talisman?
It was just that any divine grade brush was a lot more precious than a divine weapon. Not only was it extremely difficult to craft, but finding the materials required was already going to be a pain in the ass.
After Ren Bainian left, Shang Xia took a break for an entire week.
In the 7 days he was resting, other than restoring the Six Direction Qi he expanded, he didn’t bother thinking about anything and he didn’t even do anything.
When he finally restored himself to his peak condition 7 days later, he finally started to process the failed attempt. He tried to look for the reason he failed, and a way to work on it.
Just like that, half a month passed. Only when he prepared another complete plan to craft the talisman did he prepare to start his second attempt. Unfortunately, the White Bone Brush had yet to be fully restored and he chose to use the Purple Bamboo Brush for his attempt.
With one failure under his belt, Shang Xia was a lot more familiar with the first part of the process. The first one-third was quickly completed, but the second part of the talisman wasn’t as smooth. He managed to complete it, but he still felt a lot of pressure.
When he finally reached the 80 percent mark, he made a mistake and destroyed the talisman that was nearly complete.
Having already failed once, Shang Xia was prepared. Before anything could be destroyed, he erased every trace of space fluctuations in the pagoda.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t stop the brush from being damaged. In his hand, the Purple Bamboo Brush was basically half destroyed. The tip of the brush was also severely damaged and all the hair on it was basically gone.
The high-grade Purple Bamboo Brush was completely destroyed!
Leaving the Talisman Pagoda to catch his breath, Shang Xia learned that 7 days had passed since he started his second attempt.
Taking several days to adjust his mental state and to recover his inner qi, he digested everything that happened during his second attempt. He managed to learn many things he failed to see before, allowing him to save a lot of energy during the process.
Actually, the second attempt was a lot easier than the first.
After all, he failed the first time because he made a mistake in the deduction of the other part of the talisman. The second attempt failed because he made a mistake when drawing one of the runes, and the brush itself was far too lacking...
A good half of another month passed, but Ren Bainian hadn’t given him any news on the restoration of the brush.
With 2 failures under his belt, Shang Xia learned a lot. He also gained a lot more control over his inner qi ever since entering the level of Inner Fusion of the Six Direction Realm.
He managed to return to his peak state after going through what he learned, and he waited for another half a month. Seeing as there wasn’t any news from Ren Bainian, he realized that maintaining himself at his peak state was going to be a burden if he wasn’t going to craft talismans. Helpless, he could only request for another high-grade brush from Ren Huan.
The Talisman Hall only had 2 other high-grade brushes, and Shang Xia was familiar with the White Bone Brush and Purple Bamboo Brush he had been using. The others were usually in the hands of the other Talisman Grandmasters.
Who would have thought that Shang Xia would ask for another brush after half a year passed...
Looking at the high-grade brush that was made of some sort of special essence metal, Shang Xia could only hope that the brush they obtained from Star Origin City would be able to last a little longer.
Dipping it into rank six talisman ink, Shang Xia quickly adjusted the tip of the brush on the nearly-destroyed inkstone before him. He started his third attempt to craft the Six Harmony Teleportation Talisman.
Complicated runes started to appear on the rank six talisman paper before him and inner qi poured out of his body. His divine soul was also feeling a little strained as the brush in his hand suffered varying degrees of damage.
He spent 3 days completing half the talisman, and 3 more days passed when he reached the part he failed the last time. Just like that, 2 more days passed and when he finally reached the 90 percent mark of completion, he discovered that he made another mistake when deducing the type of rune for the talisman!
Slowing down his stroke the best he could so that he could buy more time to think, he felt his brain working on overdrive. Even the Crimson Soul Tablet was starting to buzz in his sea of consciousness.
Before he could think of what he should do, a wave of lethargy hit him. He felt his head spinning as the world around him blurred. A True Immortal like himself nearly blacked out.
Stabilizing himself with some difficulty, he understood that he had overdrawn his divine soul. He was completely exhausted which caused it to happen.
Under such circumstances, he couldn’t even hold his brush properly and this third attempt would have to end in failure.
It’s truly a shame!
Just as the thought formed in his mind, a sense of danger washed over him. It actually came from the talisman paper before him.
Even though it wasn’t complete, it didn’t crumble as violently as the others before it. However, as it was already 90 percent complete, the spatial fluctuations it caused were much stronger than the other 2 before it!
Shang Xia, who was utterly exhausted, didn’t manage to react in time.
As the spatial fluctuations covered the entire room, the restrictions activated instantly.
Without Shang Xia’s suppression, the restrictions were actually unable to fully stop the destruction caused by the failed talisman.
Even though a good portion of the energy emitted was absorbed by the restrictions, the remaining energy tore the room into shreds. The top floor of the Talisman Pagoda was riddled with holes the next second.
Shang Xia finally reacted a moment later, and he managed to suppress the rest of the energy. However, the commotion already drew over a bunch of Talisman Masters. They stared at the top floor of the Talisman Pagoda with dumbfounded looks.
When Shang Xia emerged from the Talisman Pagoda unscathed, he couldn’t help but cough softly when he saw their expressions. “Ahem... It was an accident. I’m afraid we will need some time to restore the Talisman Pagoda. Apologies...”
Naturally, no one would blame him for damaging the pagoda. Most of them were drawn over because they wanted to know what talisman Shang Xia was working on to cause such great destruction... Even the restrictions on the pagoda failed to hold out!
When the Talisman Masters finally left, Ren Huan ran over silently and asked, “How much damage did you cause?”
The brush was already twisted and half the tip was shaved away. Shang Xia handed the brush to Ren Huan and muttered, “Bring this to Ren Bainian and get him to restore it. It might be salvageable and it might be a mid-grade brush when he is done with it. The inkstone was completely destroyed in the explosion but we didn’t lose much other than that.”
Ren Huan took the brush as the muscles on his face twitched fiercely. However, he understood that as Shang Xia tried to become a rank six Talisman Grandmaster, sacrifices were necessary. Keeping the brush, he muttered, “We have a general idea of how to make a high-grade inkstone. However, you need to give us some time.”
A helpless chuckle escaped Shang Xia’s lips. “Even if I want to keep it up, I won’t be able to! The Talisman Pagoda needs to be repaired and there hasn’t been news of the White Bone Brush from Ren Bainian. I can’t possibly destroy the last high-grade brush we have, right? It seems as though using a high-grade brush to craft rank six talismans is a little of a stretch...”
