Chapter 307: The Story Unfolds
Chapter 307: The Story Unfolds
If Shang Xia were to enter the battlefield between the two worlds again, he would discover that the space seemed much more cramped than before.
Due to the presence of the Four Spiritual Peak in the past, the battlefield between the two worlds, it formed some sort of equilibrium with the Tongyou Peak to stabilize the space within. Even though the two territories were moving towards each other slowly, they still served as worthy anchors.
Unfortunately, the Four Spiritual Peak was destroyed following the events in the Coral Forest. When that happened, the Tongyou Peak became the core region of the battlefield between the two worlds.
Next came the moving of the Mysterious Coral World. When they were moving it to the Tongyou City, the territory controlled by the Tongyou Peak that was between the Tongyou Peak and the spatial barrier mysteriously disappeared. The Tongyou Peak became faintly visible from the Tongyou City due to the greatly reduced distance.
That wasn’t all. The Mysterious Coral World’s fusion with the Tongyou Institution caused a huge scale phenomena to fall upon the city. Moreover, the appearance of the Origin Tide caused world origin to pour out from the battlefield between the two worlds like water out a broken dam.
Due to the massive outflow of world origin, the spatial barrier separating the Azure Spiritual World and the battlefield between the two worlds started to thin. If anyone were to stand in the depths of the Thousand Leaf Mountain Range and stare in the direction of the spatial barrier, they would discover that the weird gray mist that made up the barrier was starting to thin.
The Tongyou Institution\'s act of pulling the Mysterious Coral World out of the battlefield between the two worlds seemed to be the cause of everything.
At that moment, Yun Jing and Shang Bo stood on the Tongyou Peak and stared in a certain direction in the battlefield between the two worlds.
The two of them were the only ones left on the Tongyou Peak. All the students and experts from the Tongyou City who went over to assist in their efforts to move the Mysterious Coral World had already returned to the city.
“It’s coming…” Shang Bo’s expression changed slightly and he released his aura completely. He became as still as a mountain.
Chuckling softly, Yun Jing asked, “Hehe, didn’t we already expect this?”
“This time, the four great races will definitely utilize all their strength. I wonder how many Martial Extermination Realm experts the Changbai Holy Land will send…” Shang Bo muttered.
Yun Jing turned serious too. “Heh. There’s no retreating from this battle. As long as everything remains smooth over at the institution, the state of the Tongyou Peak no longer matters. Even if we destroy the entire battlefield between the two worlds, it doesn’t matter!”
Shang Bo nodded slowly. “Luckily, the Changbai Holy Land still has their reservations. Those Martial Dipper Realm freaks there won’t be able to affect our plans.”
“Yeah. Even though we laid down so many plans, I never expected that things would still turn out this way.” Yun Jing sighed.
“Now that things have reached this state, everyone’s intentions are clear. Other than everything we prepared and our hidden aces, everything will be left up to luck.” Shang Bo growled. The moment he completed his sentence, the skies above the battlefield between the two worlds tore open. A powerful energy wave that could affect even Martial Extermination Realm experts rampaged through the lands.
“Divine Weapon! The four great races brought out their Lingxuan Space Shattering Claw!” Yun Jing was slightly taken aback, but a chuckle soon left her lips. She grabbed at the void beside her and yelled, “Hidden Frost Sword, appear!”
A burst of light came from behind her and a shadowy blade rose into the skies. In an instant, icy qi filled their surroundings and stopped the chaotic flow of energy in the battlefield between the two worlds.
The only thing that could counter a divine weapon at that moment was another divine weapon!
Yun Jing’s expression remained solemn as she growled, “I’ll stop the Lingxuan Space Shattering Claw. I’ll leave the Tongyou Peak to you!”
“Relax. I’ll handle it.” Shang Bo sighed.
Yun Jing’s figure disappeared in an instant as four massive tears opened in the skies above. It was as though a giant claw had torn right through the space above, and the spatial tears showed no signs of recovering.
Soon after, a deeper and more terrifying rip sundered the four streaks in half. A massive hole was torn into the heavens above.
Without waiting for Shang Bo to admire the scene above him, four streaks of light flew towards the Tongyou Peak in all directions.
Before they could slam into the protection barrier around the Tongyou Peak, several more streaks of light appeared and rushed towards the solitary Shang Bo who stood on the Tongyou Peak.
…
Shang Xia thought that he could remain in the city to stop Uncle Cen and the rest before they made their move. However, he underestimated the size of the city. Not to mention the fact that he had no idea where the person they wanted to save was located.
Due to the fact that there were many among the original Eighteen Horsemen who surrendered to the City Lord Manor, Uncle Cen, and the others would have to change their appearance before they could enter the city. They might even enter through unconventional methods before meeting up somewhere in the city.
If Shang Xia waited for them outside the southern city gates, not only was it possible for him to miss them, they wouldn’t recognize him either.
Luckily for both sides, Shang Xia left Yuanyuan with Wu Ji not too long after Hai Min left the city. It was possible for him to catch up with her and he quickly sped towards the Thousand Leaf Mountain Range.
He needed to arrive at the hiding spot Mister Bu prepared for them before they arrived. In one of their previous exchanges, Mister Bu revealed the location to Shang Xia.
After entering the mountain range, Shang Xia didn’t manage to discover Hai Min. He even called Yan Ni’er to do a sweep of the area but to no avail.
When he arrived at their hiding spot, Shang Xia discovered that the wooden hut Mister Bu prepared was completely empty! There wasn’t any sign of habitation at all. None of the remaining members of the Eighteen Horsemen stepped foot in the region!
As bandits who were used to the wilderness, it made no sense that they couldn’t locate the area. Moreover, Shang Xia even saw Uncle Cen outside his courtyard the day before.
Clearly, they didn’t fully trust Mister Bu despite him saving their lives. They probably located another hiding spot in the mountain range.
Damn it! I should have expected something like this!
Shang Xia whistled loudly to signal for Yan Ni’er to increase her search radius before rushing back towards the Changfeng City. He hoped that he would be able to run into them on his way back.
Unfortunately, things didn’t play out as he expected. Seeing as he was about to leave the mountain range, Shang Xia suddenly heard a long whistle coming from the air above. He whistled in response while running in the direction of Yan Ni’er’s whistle.
The two of them quickly ran into each other behind a small hill.
“Where are they? Quickly, bring me there!” Shang Xia asked impatiently but he felt a headache coming. How was he supposed to remind them without exposing his identity?
However, Yan Ni’er chirped noisily, causing Shang Xia’s expression to sink. “What do you mean they’re not the ones I’m looking for?”
Tilting her head to the side, Yan Ni’er continued chirping hastily.
“Then who are they? Forget it. Don’t bother with anyone else right now. Look for Hai Min and the rest. I have to return to the city right now. Let’s hope I make it in time.” Shang Xia was starting to get irritated. If he was going to return to the city anyway, there was no need for him to leave in the first place to waste that much time.
Seeing as Shang Xia was about to leave, Yan Ni’er flew towards him and grabbed his collar with her tiny claws. She flapped her wings violently and dragged him back slightly.
That was the first time Shang Xia had experienced her full strength, and she seemed stronger than she looked. One couldn’t evaluate her strength by her short two feet long wingspan. As a Mutated Rain Swallow, she could borrow the power of lightning and use it to boost her strength slightly.
Stumbling back slightly, Shang Xia’s expression turned serious. “This… Are you serious? Are you insisting that I follow you to look at the person you found?”
“Chirp!”
Yan Ni’er seemed to nod her head at him.
“Is this really important?” Shang Xia asked yet another stupid question. From her actions, Yan Ni’er had proven that she thought there was no other choice than to drag him there.
A trace of hesitation appeared on Shang Xia’s face. However, Yan Ni’er soared into the skies and made a beautiful arc through the skies before reaching out to grab Shang Xia’s collar again.
Dodging her at the last second, he yelled, “Alright, alright! I’ll go with you!”
Yan Ni’er shot up into the skies as Shang Xia shook his head helplessly. He quickly ran into the forest around him as he chased after the little bird. He tried to reassure himself silently, “Even if they enter the city, they might not make their move immediately. Since I don’t know where they are anyway, I can only locate them once they start their rescue mission. I should be able to make it back in time. Since that’s the case, I’ll take a look at what Yan Ni’er is getting at…”
Following as close as he could, Shang Xia quickly traversed through the mountain range. He discovered his surroundings getting more and more familiar as a sense of unease filled his heart. He heard the sound of water flowing after some time, and he increased his speed yet again.
When he finally arrived, he heard voices coming from upstream as a raging river ripped through the mountain range.
