Chapter 602: Winner Of The First Match

The combat slave gasped, "No! No, Mistress! I\'ll do better!! Please don\'t!! I promise you I\'ll do better!!"

Taritia took out her whip and cracked it against the ground, "Then prove it to me you worthless dog!! You are my slave! Start acting like one!!"

"Yes Mistress!!"

I pointed at that, "Does that count as a support?"

Katsuki narrowed her eyes, "Seeing that they did not deduct her support number, I would say that pep talks and maybe even encouragement aren\'t counted as support."

I guess that also means you can direct your combat slaves in the fight as well?

The Mahun slave let out a roar and charged towards the Melsatar, his shield left by his side instead of being raised like before.

The Meslatar shifted his longsword back before swinging it in a horizontal slash from the Mahun\'s right when he got within range.

I expected the Mahun to be smashed away but he raised his sword at an angle and ducked his head, his sword redirecting the swing of the Meslatar\'s blade to fly over his head instead.

The Meslatar only had time to widen his eyes in surprise before the shield was smashed into his solar plexus, knocking the wind out of him.

He stumbled back a few steps and barely raised his sword in time to parry the slash that slave number one sent his way from above.

The Mahun slave used the momentum of being parried to once again smash the edge of his shield into the Meslatar\'s side, knocking him stumbling again.

The Meslatar tried to create distance between them by swinging his longsword in a wide slash in his opponent\'s direction.

Taritia\'s slave then surprised everyone by crouching low on the ground to avoid the swing and kicking his opponent\'s feet from under him, causing the Melsatar to topple forward.

As though already expecting that to happen, the Mahun then smashed his shield straight into his face, sending the poor Meslatar rolling away.

To Bjorn\'s slave\'s credit, he still managed to hold on to his longsword despite the blow and only rolled once before he stopped himself to get up on a knee.

The Mahun tried to press his advantage by lunging towards the Meslatar while he was still in a crouch but the Meslatar slave suddenly spun in a circle and smashed his tail into the Mahun\'s side.

We watched as the Mahun rolled to the edge of the arena from the blow, which made me wonder something.

"If they fall off the arena, does it count as a loss as well?" I asked.

Lisa answered, "I would assume so. It doesn\'t seem like there\'s a wall around it at least."

The Mahun slave got back up and glared at his opponent who was also doing the same, both combat slaves eyeing each other while readying their weapons for their next engagement.

This time, the Meslatar charged first, his wings bursting out from behind and flapping once to propel him up into the air.

He angled his longsword towards the Mahun who was forced to leap away as the Meslatar came crashing back down onto the ground, sending a shockwave that shook the arena they were standing on.

The Meslatar was in the midst of turning around when the Mahun leapt towards him from behind, his sword poised to stab him in the back of the neck.

"[Static Bolt]!"

"[Cleanse]!"

Bjorn tried to use his magic to stun the Mahun slave again but Taritia seemed to have anticipated that since she immediately finished her spell chant a split second after him and dispelled the paralysing effects.

I\'m guessing she must have seen Bjorn\'s lips move to chant his spell and immediately started chanting her spell after that to counter it. It seems like not only do you need to keep an eye on the arena, you also need to monitor what your opponent trainer was doing at the same time.

This is some advanced level battle.

The result of that was the Mahun slave stabbing the Meslatar slave in the back of the neck and sending his opponent outside.

When the Mahun slave realised he won, he raised his hand into the air and let out a roar of celebration which was echoed by the crowd.

Damn, I wonder what combat slave training is like? Does the slave trainer also need to be able to do all those moves and teach them that or do they train them in other ways?

Seeing that each combat slave was pretty much using a different weapon, I don\'t think the slave trainers are the one who taught them those moves since I doubt either of them could use that many weapons proficiently.

I mean… It\'s a possibility but I doubt that was the case.

Bjorn smirked at Taritia, "That was a nice counterspell I\'ll give you that! But this time, I\'m not going to hold back! I use up my remaining support to bring back all my slaves and send out everyone!"

Oh wow, and here I was wondering if they were going to keep this as a one on one fight.

"What happens if one side doesn\'t have enough slaves to fight evenly? Would they be allowed to do that or are they limited to the maximum number of slaves the other side has?" I asked.

Delmare was looking to the side again which told me that she must be listening in on a conversation.

While I was waiting, Taritia had also used up her last remaining support to bring back her other slave and sent all five of them into the arena.

My Siren then turned back to me, "Umm… It seems like if Taritia wasn\'t able to bring her slave back, she would be forced to fight a four on five battle. It seems like there\'s tactics which involve making the other side use up their support before forcing them into a fight with a number disadvantage."

I see… So planning ahead is also crucial.

Right then, the next round started and all ten combat slaves rushed towards one another in an all out melee.

While the first three rounds were at least still relatively organised, this five on five battle quickly dissolved into a chaotic mess.

I\'m not sure if it was by choice or it\'s because of the rules, none of the combat slaves were ranged fighters or even mages so it really did turn into a brawl.

One slave could be fighting against another slave and the next they need to fend off a wild swing from another slave and their opponents changed just like that.

The first one to fall was a slave from Taritia\'s side, having been caught in the side by a stab from a spear from Bjorn\'s female Yoblin slave that managed to sneak under his guard.

Then the same Yoblin got literally punted out of the arena by another Mahun slave.

Instead of flying all the way out of the arena, however, the moment the Yoblin hit the threshold between the arena and the outside of the arena, she was teleported safely onto the ground without the momentum of being kicked like a ball.

I guess that\'s our question of what happens when someone falls out of the arena answered.

Still… Poor girl to get kicked out like that.

The next one to get sent out was a female Nyarel on Bjorn\'s side. She had the very unfortunate luck of being a victim of a lucky swing from one of Taritia\'s slaves that was wielding a battle axe.

Unlucky because he hadn\'t even been aiming for her but for the Wrunch instead. The Wrunch had stepped back to avoid the swing and the axe struck her in the back of her head and sent her out.

Right after that, Taritia\'s slave number one managed to subdue Bjorn\'s Meslatar slave again in their own fight, bringing the number of slaves Bjorn has down to two.

The other one was a male Mahun as well and he was already struggling against two of Taritia\'s combat slaves that were ganging up on him.

At this stage, it looked like it would be Bjorn\'s loss but the Wrunch suddenly let out a yell and stomped his foot on the ground.

The entire arena shook and everyone else fought to maintain their footing.

That was all the Wrunch needed as he charged into two of the Mahuns and did a two armed lariat, blowing past the two of them and sending them flying out of the arena.

He then spun around and grabbed another of Taritia\'s combat slaves by the neck and threw him out as well.

The last of Taritia\'s slave managed to jump up and slash at his back with a sword to defeat him but ended up getting stabbed in his own back by Bjorn\'s last slave.

And with that, it was Bjorn\'s victory.
