Chapter 324: Chapter 324 - Upgrading the Gravestone
Chapter 324: - Upgrading the Gravestone
Broken took out his brand-new greatsword and drove it into the sand, instantly catching Elincia and Ivana\'s attention.
"That\'s quite the impressive weapon, Broken. The visual is really good. So, did the blueprint include the aura around the greatsword?" Elincia asked.
"I think it\'s mainly because of the Royal Hammer I used during the crafting process," he explained simply. "The hammer has a skill that can slightly alter the final appearance, adding effects like this."
"Is that also why your armor and Princess Alora\'s have different colors, even though they\'re based on the same blueprint?" Elincia pondered.
"Yep," he confirmed.
"Interesting."Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn
The greatsword indeed carried significant weight. He sighed, checked his overall stats, and saw he had 60 available points. Without hesitation, he funneled all of them into Strength.
[Name: Broken]
[Level: 126]
[Class: Unique - Super Novice | Unique - Royal Blacksmith | Unique - Rift Digger]
[Health: 12,435 | Mana: 5,132]
[Strength: 1,124 | Agility: 324 | Intelligence: 349 | Constitution: 258 | Stamina: 522]
[Charisma: 100 | Luck: 35 | Dexterity: 50 | Survival: 30 | Perception: 20]
[Available Stat Points: 0]
[Weight: 7,427/6,744]
However, even with all those points, his overall weight capacity still fell short.
"What\'s up?" Elincia asked, noticing Broken deep in thought.
"This greatsword weighs 3430, but my overall weight capacity isn\'t enough to carry it comfortably," he admitted.
"What? Really? 3430?" Elincia giggled. "If I tried to hold that thing, I\'d definitely topple over from its weight."
"3430 is like half of my total weight capacity," Broken explained.
"And the Heavy Armor you\'re wearing is also heavier than other armor at the same level, right?"
"Yes," he confirmed.
Broken started thinking about how he could wield the greatsword more comfortably. He then decided to check the stats on the greatsword.
[Gravestone Greatsword]
[Grade: Unique]
[Attack Power: 1370~1587
Strength +200]
[Durability: 100/100]
[Weight: 3430]
[.....]
The greatsword boasted an impressive Strength stat of 200 points, equivalent to about 20 levels.
"How much more Strength do you need to meet the weight requirement, Broken?" Elincia inquired.
Each point in Strength added 6 points to his Weight Capacity. With Broken currently 683 points short, he needed approximately 114 more Strength points.
"114 Strength points."
"That\'s a lot about 12 levels\' worth," Elincia remarked.
"I can upgrade the greatsword and get bonus Strength from that," he suggested.
"How much Strength does the greatsword provide?" Elincia asked, intrigued.
Broken shared the weapon\'s stats to her.
"Wow, 200 Strength?" she exclaimed, giggling. "I\'m not great at math, but if you upgrade the greatsword to +18, how much additional Strength could you gain?"
"200 multiplied by 68% is roughly 136," Broken estimated quickly.
"That\'s the answer," Elincia said excitedly. "Upgrade the greatsword until you gain a total of 114 Strength stat. So, how many upgrades do you need?"
Broken sighed and opened his console to simulate the upgrades for the greatsword. If he upgraded the greatsword to +16, he\'d still need a bit more Strength. He then checked his +9 Invincible Paragon Gloves, which also had Strength stats on it. If he upgraded the gloves to +15 and the greatsword to +15 and removed some items... But wait, he noticed the weight of Queen Gaia\'s Fate Ring was quite substantial at 390.
He removed the ring and tried the simulation again. With just the greatsword upgraded to +12, he would meet the Weight Capacity requirements. Gaia could only be summoned once an hour for five minutes anyway, so using the ring only when necessary wouldn\'t be a problem. "+12, yes, I only need to upgrade the greatsword to +12 to meet the requirements, Elincia." "Then, upgrade the greatsword to +12," she said, giggling again. "That\'s simple, right? +12 isn\'t too hard as long as you have the enchantment stones and blessed stones." Broken nodded slowly. He\'d asked Ingolf to craft as many Enchantment Stones and Blessed Stones as possible for him. Although he initially planned to test the skills of the greatsword and the pickaxe first, he decided it was best to proceed with the upgrade immediately. He then took out some enchantment stones and started the process of upgrading the greatsword. Elincia and Ivana moved closer, curious about what he was doing. "You have a lot of luck; this should be easy, right?" Ivana said, smiling.
"If you can use materials 20% more efficiently than the average person, that\'s already incredibly lucky, Broken. Do you have enough blessed stones, too?" Elincia asked.
"Yes, it\'s okay. I have enough to get it to +12," he replied confidently.
"You\'re quite confident, aren\'t you?" Elincia remarked with a raised eyebrow.
Broken immediately began the upgrade process.
[Spend 3 Enchantment Stones to upgrade Gravestone Greatsword to +1?]
[You\'ve succeeded in upgrading Gravestone Greatsword to +1.]
The upgrade to +1 was guaranteed to succeed, so it wasn\'t anything special. He continued,
hitting success after success, and soon reached the safe point at +3.
"Good, that was a smooth upgrade," Elincia said. "Since it\'s a weapon and also a Unique- grade, the difficulty for upgrading will be high, so be prepared for failures and even
downgrades."
"Yes," Broken nodded and continued the process.
[You\'ve succeeded in upgrading Gravestone Greatsword to +4.]
The upgrade to +4 worked. He held his breath, trying to steady his excitement-there was
still a long road ahead.
Failed. It remained at +4.
Elincia and Ivana both watched with bated breath, their eyes locked on the process.
Success. Failure. Failure. Success. Success. Success. +6.
Broken let out a small sigh of relief-he\'d made it to the second safe point. When he looked up, he saw Ivana beaming at him, her smile full of encouragement.
"You\'ve got this, Broken," Ivana said.
"You\'re already ahead of most people," Elincia chimed in, her tone warm and reassuring.
But now, the real challenge began. Each upgrade from here on out demanded more resources and an even greater stroke of luck. The materials had grown more costly too, now needing High-Quality Enchantment Stones.
Broken took a deep breath, bracing himself, and dove back in.
[You\'ve succeeded in upgrading Gravestone Greatsword to +7.]
That upgrade went very smoothly. His hands trembled with excitement, but he pressed on.
[You\'ve failed, the Gravestone Greatsword upgrade level has decreased to +6.]
He took a deep breath, steadying himself. Though the setback stung, he knew he couldn\'t
afford to get discouraged now.
Both Elincia and Ivana could only watch in silence, fully aware of the heavy toll and disappointment that came with a failed upgrade, especially one that caused a level decrease. The sheer amount of resources and cost involved was significant.
Broken pressed on, determined.
Failure. Failure. Failure.
His hands trembled, and he stood there, frozen. He had failed three times in a row to upgrade
to +7! "That\'s quite normal... Broken," Elincia murmured softly, trying to comfort him. "Can I just push through and keep trying until it succeeds?" he asked, glancing over at Elincia.
"Normally, if you fail too many times in a row, it\'s better to take a break," she advised.
"Let me try a few more times," he insisted.
Success. Success. +8.
Broken\'s eyes widened in surprise, and he paused for a moment. Everyone knew he was still
not at a safe point yet.
Elincia and Ivana held their breath, just as anxious as he was.
Broken fed more enchantment stones to the greatsword, knowing he was just one upgrade
away from the next safe point.
[Spend 9 High-Quality Enchantment Stones to upgrade Gravestone Greatsword to +9?]
Yes!
