Chapter 221: - Preparing for the Final Challenge
Their inventory storage had its limits: 1 cubic meter for levels 1 to 100, and 2 cubic meters for levels 101 to 150. For those above that, it expanded to 3 cubic meters and then continued to grow following the Fibonacci sequence every 50 levels. Since Broken was just around level 100, he only had 2 cubic meters of storage in his inventory.
Consequently, they focused on choosing high-quality materials. When it came to equipment, including armor and weapons, they selected anything that had a good resale value or could be of use to them. The sheer amount of loot sprawled across the dungeon floor was overwhelming, and it was obvious that Elincia and the others already had superior equipment. Most of the discarded items were left behind, littering the ground.
During this process, Broken took special care to pick out any items that could potentially be useful for him or his knights.
[Sandstorm Devastator Greatsword (Epic) Lvl. 200]
[Scorpion\'s Sting Sword (Epic) Lvl. 200]
[Dune Breaker Sword (Epic) Lvl. 200]
[Scorching Rod Magic Staff (Epic) Lvl. 200]
[Scorpion Guard Shield (Epic) Lvl. 200]
[Oasis Defender Sword (Epic) Lvl. 200]
[Scorpion\'s Arch Bow (Epic) Lvl. 200]
Every item he found was Epic-grade and level 200. While the knights couldn\'t use them just yet, the weapons had excellent stats, and he could distribute them once they reached level 200. If there were no other options, Broken could always rely on these weapons.
For armor, he struggled to find complete sets. Instead, he picked random pieces with good stats and skills since his inventory was almost full. He needed to figure out a way to carry more storage on these kinds of expeditions.
Elincia walked over and analyzed the items scattered on the ground.
"Need more storage?" she asked with a relaxed smile.
"Hmmm..." Broken thought for a moment. "No... actually, the rest aren\'t great, so I\'ll just take what\'s useful."
"For your knights, right?"
"Yes."
"Let me know when you\'re done; we\'ll continue the exploration." "Okay."
After spending a bit more time making sure nothing was left behind, Broken felt confident that he had collected everything worthwhile. He joined the others under the lone tree, which didn\'t provide full cover but was adequate for them to stand and discuss their next move.
After a thorough discussion and coordination, they felt more refreshed than before and resumed their expedition. To their surprise, the dungeon was far more extensive than Broken had anticipated. They spent another whole day exploring, vanquishing every monster they encountered. This time, however, they moved quicker because Broken had become more familiar with how the team operated.
Whenever a monster appeared, one of them would strike first, swiftly weakening it. If the damage wasn\'t sufficient, the next person in line would step in to finish the job. This approach conserved their resources and managed the cooldowns of their major skills effectively.
Elincia occasionally hovered in the air to scout from a distance while Charmelyn swiftly and stealthily moved on the ground, checking out hidden spots. This made their movements incredibly efficient, and by the end of the day, they had covered almost 70% of the dungeon\'s
area.
They gathered once more on a high plain near a cliff, which provided a good vantage point for monitoring any incoming threats. They set up tents and built a campfire, preparing themselves for some well-deserved rest.
They continued with their dinner, and as usual, Charmelyn chose to eat alone, away from the others. She returned after finishing her meal, sitting silently and refraining from joining the conversations. It seemed that some people were indeed extremely introverted, and even among her guildmates, Charmelyn remained quiet. This demeanor, in a way, seemed to align perfectly with her chosen class.
Meanwhile, Skywarden appeared more relaxed that evening, starting to engage in the conversation, though he always fell silent and seemed to ignore whenever Elincia or Starfall tried to draw Broken into the conversation.
As they chatted, Charmelyn suddenly got to her feet, catching everyone\'s eye. "I\'m heading out to find the boss\'s location," she declared, as it was her turn to scout. Not waiting for anyone to reply, she backed up slowly and disappeared into the shadows.
"Is it just me, or does Charmelyn seem quieter than usual?" Starfall commented, a hint of concern in her voice.
"I think she\'s been more reserved ever since she lost someone important to her," Elincia explained softly.
"Ck!" Skywarden scoffed. "Not really. She talks plenty when it\'s just the two of us on a mission. Maybe she just feels uncomfortable with strangers around."
Elincia kicked a stone toward Skywarden, hitting him squarely. "Your mouth never tires of taking jabs at Broken, does it? Without him, we\'d all be dead in this dungeon."
"Shut up!" Skywarden retorted angrily as he stood up. "I\'m going to scout the nearby area too." With that, he walked away.
After Skywarden departed, Elincia giggled and glanced at Broken. "You\'re okay, right?
Broken?"
"Yes," Broken replied promptly. "Everything\'s fine."
"You sure are humble," Starfall chimed in with a knowing smile.
"Sorry?" Broken asked, puzzled by her remark.
"Yes," Elincia insisted. "You\'re so powerful, yet you try to hide it from everyone..."
Broken fell silent, absorbing Elincia\'s words. Despite his abilities, he still felt he needed the support of the team, especially during challenging dungeon explorations where he couldn\'t manage everything on his own.
"I learn a lot from you guys, too," he finally said.
"Join our missions more often next time," Elincia suggested warmly. "Maylock, Toberry, Goldrich, Jovina, Optimus, Trison, Kingsley, Melliandra-they would all be thrilled to have you with us on dungeon explorations."
"Really?"
Starfall nodded, her smile softening. "Yes... We enjoy having you here. It\'s so much more fun
with you around."
"Thanks," Broken whispered, nodding slowly. For the first time in his life, he felt truly
appreciated by others. Had his past been so miserable that a simple acknowledgment and
gratitude from others warmed his heart so profoundly?
A while later, Skywarden returned to the group, but he didn\'t say a word. Instead, he sat down and started enjoying another meal. Shortly after, Charmelyn also came back, drawing everyone\'s attention.
"Hey, find anything interesting? Did you find the boss\'s location?" Elincia was the first to
speak up.
Charmelyn nodded slowly, then sat on a wooden log and shared a photo from her system, which hovered in front of everyone.
"Not the boss, but I found something underground... like a temple or something. There were some destroyed golems outside, but no monsters or the boss inside. I even tried going in but found nothing. Sorry... I\'ve scouted the unexplored areas, and I think this underground place is the only thing worth reporting."
"That\'s where the boss is!" Skywarden interjected. "Let\'s head there right now, clear this
damn place, and get out of this boring dungeon."
Elincia nodded in agreement. "Even if Charmelyn didn\'t find the dungeon boss, we might stilln/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
discover a clue or something valuable there."
She looked around at everyone. "Ready?" "Always!" Livelywood replied with a grin.
