Chapter 102 - Case

Chapter 102: Chapter 3 Case

After returning to Grande, Lola was ‘playing’ Matthew’s bike with Alice’s help.

She was indeed playing, “This is too difficult! Harder than driving!” Lola was moving forward almost at an angle of 60 degrees to the ground, and poor Alice took a lot of effort to push Lola to prevent her from falling.

“You are back!” Lola saw three men walking into Grande’s backyard, of course, she only paid attention to Benjamin. Excited, she stepped on the pedal to leave Alice and rushed forward, “Ah!~”

“You, are you okay!” Matthew stopped and hugged Lola when she was about to fall, but his eyes were fixed on his bicycle that was lying on the ground. Obviously, he was more concerned about his property.

“I’m fine! “Let go of me!” Lola yelled and stood firm, freeing herself from Matthew’s arms.

“I, I am sorry!” Matthew raised his hand and backed away to help his bicycle.

Lola realized her overreaction and looked at Benjamin who was smiling, a little embarrassed, “Hey, are you, Matthew? I’m Lola, sorry for riding your bicycle. ”

“Uh, it’s okay,” Matthew confirmed that the bicycle was not broken and smiled embarrassedly.

This was a very honest young man. He had pale blonde hair, but it was too pale; like white in the sunlight, if you looked further away you would think he had no eyebrows. Farming and work from a young age had allowed him to become very strong, and there were short stubbles on his neglected wide chin. But the same as his hair, because the color was too light, and coupled with his white skin, it wouldn’t be obvious, if you didn’t look closely; which softened the deep and sharp contour of his face. He was a very likable fellow.

At this moment, Matthew blushed a little. He held the bicycle, stopped next to the warehouse, and secretly looked at Lola who had already begun to smile and talk to Benjamin.

“Matthew, you can go and help Hank.” Benjamin gave orders as he passed by and took the banshee and Lola into the warehouse.

Matthew’s gray eyes looked at the back of the three, and Zach put his hand on Matthew’s shoulder with an ambiguous smile: “Lola Barton, a beautiful girl, right?”

The hairs on Matthew’s body stood up. The owner of Grande Funeral Home always gave him a strange feeling. The honest Matthew only thought that this was the pressure from a new job, a new ‘identity’, and a new boss. He didn’t have some strange thoughts, but even the most obtuse person could understand the point of this sentence. ‘Barton, beautiful’.

“I…” Matthew wanted to say something, but Zach had already walked to Grande and ignored the young wolf.

Don’t know if it was because the stairwell of the Grande Funeral Home was connected to the vampire’s basement, it always felt cold here. Zach held the handrail to the second floor, looked up, and frowned. There was something wrong with Louise these days, but he didn’t know why.

Unable to figure it out after a moment of thinking, Zach shook his head, turned, and pushed open the office door to enter the office.

Just like every time after he returned, Zach poured himself a glass of ‘wine’ and pressed the answering machine.

Amongst the phone calls for discussing moving tombs appeared a strange message.

“Grande Funeral Home? Uh, this is Quest. Uh, Hermann recommended you. This is your work phone number? Uh, anyway, call me back when you get this message. The number is xxxx.”

Zach raised his eyebrows, took down the phone number, and walked directly out of the office. He spread out the newspapers of the past few days and searched for something. It didn’t take him long to find such a piece of news on the community column.

“Neil Quest, the younger brother of the president of Quest Group, and his newlyweds, Tiffany Quest, disappeared last night. The two had just got married on Monday, and the possibility of going on a trip has been ruled out. The police are expanding the search area. According to the informant, the last time the two appeared was at the former Passing Bus Terminal. This is the second case that has occurred here after the emergence of the ‘cult’. So far, there is no evidence to show any connection between the two cases. Neil Quest, 25 years old, one of the shareholders of Quest Group…”

Zach frowned and thought about going to get “Urban Legends – Barton Weekly.” He wondered if there would be some strange stories this time again. But looking at the date on the cover, he realized that it hasn’t been a week since the incident happened, and this was a weekly magazine; so the new magazine hasn’t come out yet.

The vampire put the magazine back in disappointment, walked back to the office. He thought about what he was going to say and picked up the phone.

“This is Zachary Grande from the Grande Funeral Home. We have received a phone call from Mr. Quest.” Zach swirled the liquid in the glass and said calmly.

“So you are the Zach that Hermann highly recommends?” A voice that fit a 30-year-old man came from the receiver, and that was Mr. Quest.

Zach smiled: “Yes, I am. I am very grateful for Mr. Hermann’s recommendation. How can I help you?”

The other party was silent for a while, with a trace of uncertainty, “Hellman said that you only accept the request, and there will be no report for the entire process.”

“Yes.” Zach was very satisfied with Hermann’s due diligence, “I have read the news. First of all, I’d like to express my condolence for what happened to Mr. and Mrs. Quest. I believe Mr. Hermann has also talked about his experience, so what will Mr. Quest’s request be?”

When Hermann found Zach, Zach proposed two solutions, but Hermann, who was still hopeful, chose to find Connor first, and then revenge. So Zach was just asking what information the other party knew.

The other party’s mood seemed to be disturbed, and he lowered his voice: “What are you implying? !”

“I wasn’t implying anything.” Zack’s mouth curled up, “Has Mr. Quest received a blackmail call or letter?”

“No.” Zach could hear the suppressed breathing from the receiver.

“Are there any things strange before the incident?” Zach continued to ask.

“No!”

Zach waited for the other person’s breathing to calm down gradually, “Then I’m just taking precautions in advance.” The vampire took a sip of wine and said flatly: “Mr. Quest can tell me the request now.”

“Find my brother!” The other party seemed to suppress countless emotions. After heavy breathing, he added a sentence in the receiver: “No matter what, find him first!”

Zach nodded to the air, accepted the request, and hung up.

Zach had no clue about this incident, so he couldn’t guarantee time. However, the disappearance without any indications and reason, and the location also happened to be the abandoned bus terminal. This seemed to fit right in with what Zach was good at.

Sitting behind the desk, Zach drank the rest of the wine. He pulled out a folded piece of paper from the drawer with some names on it. This was the list that James gave to Benjamin. In the past few days after the full moon, the Grande Funeral Home was quite busy, so these suspicious names had been ignored.

Zach looked at the names, thought for a while, and shook his head. He then put the paper back and started to process the previous voice messages. When all Grande’s work was done, Lola had already been picked up by Barton’s car, and Alice had also stood by the TV and waited for the start of “Cook’s Kitchen”.

Matthew knocked on the office door, “I am going home.”

“Mhm.” Zach glanced at Matthew and nodded: “When you come tomorrow, go to the mill first and bring Maddison’s work report.”

“Oh.” Matthew nodded honestly, put on a slightly old cap, and got off work.
