Chapter 44 CH: 44

Fenrir couldn\'t help but marvel at the sight of the port getting smaller and smaller as the wind carried the ship farther away. The sea was calm and peaceful, and the sound of the waves lapping against the hull of the ship was soothing to his ears. As he took a deep breath of the fresh sea air, he heard a voice behind him.

"Master Fenrir, do you want some coffee?" It was , the coachman.

He turned around and nodded gratefully.

"Thank you, Miguel. I could use a cup of coffee."

Miguel disappeared for a moment and came back with a steaming mug of coffee. Fenrir took a sip and savored the rich, bitter flavor. It was just what he needed to clear his mind and calm his nerves.

"Is everything going well ?" Fenrir asked.

"Yes, Master Fenrir. The ship is steady and the crew is experienced. We should reach our destination in a few weeks, if everything goes according to plan," Miguel replied.

He nodded in approval. He knew that Miguel had chosen the right ship and crew for their journey.

As he sipped his coffee, he took notice of the crew\'s hard work. Their clothes were tattered and stained, their faces etched with lines of exhaustion. It was clear they had been at sea for a long time.

Despite their appearance, he couldn\'t help but respect them for their hardwork.

The wind picked up and the ship began to sway. Fenrir held on to the railing as he watched the sailors climb up the rigging to adjust the sails. He could see their muscles straining with the effort.

As he was taking in the sights and sounds of the ship, a sailor approached him with a respectful bow.

"Excuse me, sir," the sailor spoke in a respectful manner. "I have been instructed by our captain to inform you that you and your companion are very important passengers on this voyage."

"Is that so? And why is that?" Fenrir raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Well, sir, the captain has made it clear that your safe arrival at your destination is of utmost importance to him and the entire crew. We have been instructed to ensure that you are well taken care of during this journey."

"I see. Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate the captain\'s concern." Fenrir nodded in understanding.

"It is our pleasure to serve you, sir. If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to ask." The sailor bowed again before leaving.

Fenrir leveled a questioning gaze at Miguel. "Did you bribe him?" he asked, suspicion lacing his voice.

Miguel laughed lightly, and Fenrir knew that he was right. Elizabeth had tasked him with ensuring that Fenrir\'s journey was as pleasant as possible. She knew how easily his mood could be soured, and she didn\'t want him to have a negative experience.

"I may have slipped him a few coins," Miguel admitted with a wink.

Fenrir couldn\'t help but smile. It was a relief to have someone as loyal and dedicated as Miguel looking out for him. He was grateful for the little acts of kindness that Elizabeth and her associates showed him, even if he didn\'t always show it.

"I\'m getting sleepy again. I\'ll excuse myself now, Miguel " he yawned and stretched his hands. He retired to his cabin, the rhythmic sounds of the waves lulling him to sleep.

Elizabeth, on the other hand, remained in her coffin, unwilling to be disturbed during the long journey over the treacherous sea. The sound of the waves crashing against the hull was a constant reminder of the danger they were in, and the possibility of a shipwreck weighed heavily on her mind. Despite her immortality, even she couldn\'t escape the forces of nature.

The crew carried out their duties with precision, knowing that they had precious cargo on board. They steered the ship through rough waters and strong winds, keeping a watchful eye out for any potential threats.

Days turned into weeks as the ship sailed on through treacherous waters. Even with the stormy weather, the galleon persevered and continued their journey. However, their luck seemed to run out as they spotted a ship on the horizon.

"Pirates! Pirates!" The lookout screamed and rang the bell, alerting the crew and passengers of the approaching danger.

The captain wasted no time and quickly ordered,

"Full sail ahead!" He expertly maneuvered the ship in an attempt to outrun the pursuing pirates.

The sudden jolt of the ship shook Fenrir awake from his slumber. Confused and disoriented, he stumbled to the door of his cabin.

Miguel, who had been sent to fetch Fenrir, burst into the room with a panicked expression on his face.

"Pirates are chasing us, sir," he gasped.

"Pirates?" Fenrir repeated, the word foreign to him.

"They\'re like bandits, but on the sea. We need to be careful." Miguel quickly explained, he knew that his master lacked common knowledge about the world because he had been spoiled by his mistress.

Fenrir nodded, his curiosity piqued by the sudden turn of events. He knew that this was not a situation to take lightly, but he couldn\'t help feeling a sense of excitement.

He bolted to the door of the deck below but before he could even reach for the handle, a deafening explosion rattled the ship. The sound of water splashing against the wooden planks followed, and the whole vessel shuddered from the impact.

Miguel stumbled and fell to the ground, but Fenrir managed to remain steady despite the turbulence thanks to his heightened sense of balance. He quickly rushed outside to the deck, where he was greeted by a chaotic scene. Sailors scrambled to their stations, arming cannons to fire back at the pursuing pirates. With each blast, the ship rocked, and the air was thick with the acrid smell of gunpowder.

Despite the danger, Fenrir couldn\'t help but feel a thrill of excitement at the new experience. He watched in amusement as the crew worked together to repel the attackers, each one clearly a master of their trade. It was a fascinating display of skill and teamwork, and he was excited to have the opportunity to witness it firsthand.

"Amazing," he muttered to himself, his eyes lighting up with curiosity and wonder. He marveled at the advanced technology of the cannons, imagining how far mankind would develop in the hundreds of years to come.
